Help -- Groom's Pants Issue

Kristen, on October 9, 2020 at 9:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I am wondering if anyone has any advice. My FH waited to the last minute to order his suit. It was custom made. He figured he would need a few alterations but the pants do not fit well at all. He even took it to a seamstress and even she said in her 40 years she never has seen pants made like this. Sucks he spent all that money but we are doubtful the company will alter the pants correctly and if so do it within time. Any suggestions about purchasing pants that match his jacket? Color is navy blue. He wants the same pants to match because I suggested another color. Thanks in advance.

Aww man! That sucks. Even though you’re not confident that the company who made the suit can or will correct the issue, I would still reach out to the company to see what they could do. You might be surprised. But I would also take the jacket into a men’s suit store or department store and see if they have pants that could match it.

He did yesterday and has not heard yet. I told him buy off the rack and see if they can fix the pants for something else. I am honestly okay with him getting black or khakis but he wants it to looks like a suit. Why men gotta wait to late and not listen? LOL

Girl .... If I had the answer to that question, I’d be rich! Lol! If he can’t find matching pants, would he be open to buying another suit off the rack? Not ideal, but an option. And if you live somewhere
that has a K&G, they have nice (not tacky), reasonably priced suits. My fiancé was getting ready to buy a suit from Men’s Wearhouse until he found the same suit at K&G for half of the price.

He is going to Men's Warehouse to see if he can match and still get the pants altered so he is not completely out of money. I am not sure we have a K & G close to us but doubt it. I am hoping he can match it or get real close. Just hoping within time. Thanks for the advice.

You’re welcome. Well, check to see if one is near you. You never know. I’m sure he’ll find something that works either way. Fingers crossed!

So frustrating!! Mine will probably wait until the last minute too... That said, he may be better off buying an entirely new suit. Matching suits across companies/fabric is really tough, and even if it looks good in store fluorescent lights, you risk the camera and lighting at your venue highlighting differences in the fabric/style and not realizing until you get the pictures back.

Keep calling. They should fix that. I’m surprised they missed the mark though, custom suiting is their specialty! Did he get measured by a professional or measure himself properly at home? I remember there’s a question during the ordering process about body type and if you pick the wrong one that can totally throw off the sizing. (I know this because an in-law picked the super athletic body type which wasn’t the most honest choice and his pants came in and didn’t fit him well at all. 🙄)

In the meantime and as a backup plan he’ll want to take the jacket with him to any and all menswear stores to help find pants. Navy can be hard to match, but if he explains the situation to a salesperson they should be able to pull some pants to match or compliment the jacket.

I measured him (nope I am not an expert lol but we followed the video) and he put in his info correctly. It it almost as if the crotch area was meant for a tight fitted hipster look.

😂 oh dear! Sounds like what happened with my FIL... who chose the super athletic body type though he is a bit softer. 🤣 I’m sorry y’all are having to sort through it. You’re a gem for helping him even though he should have just tried the darn thing on sooner! ❤️ Hopefully you can get ahold of someone at Indochino and they can get you a fresh set of pants that fit better!

Hmmmm him listening to me from that start? That is a new concept -_- lol. Yeah he knows worse case he will need to buy off the rack. I told him just for the money spent yeah just figure out something with the pants. They were just so bad there was no way and alterations specialist could fix it Thanks so much for the advice.

Check out men's Wearhouse. They have several separates available for purchase and different navy tones. Hopefully you guys can find one with good fit and color. Also I would go back to the custom maker of the suit and make them change the issues. Whatever he finds from Men's Wearhouse can be used as a back up, but the custom maker should not be off the hook you guys paid for something and are not getting something workable.
