HELP!!! Finding a Reception Venue on a $10k Budget Southern NJ Wedding.

Sharon, on January 1, 2015 at 7:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I cannot find anything in my price range in my area. Everything's too expensive and I'm getting really discouraged and the wedding is in May. Everything once you add up the fees seems to be at least $100 a head and both me and my FH have big families were looking at 150-200 people. Does anyone have any ideas on a good venue?

My sister tried to plan her wedding of 70 under 10K and could not pull it off. I think 150-200 you may need like a Church Hall. I would recommend a Cruise Ship but at that level many would need to sail. They only allow 50 on for the day for the most part. Good luck!

The Atlantis Ballroom and the sister properties have pretty good rates. They're having winter specials right now. I don't know what the prices would be in May, but my wedding is at the Atlantis Ballroom next week and I'm paying $61 a head. May is peak season. You may have to switch your date if you're on a tight budget.

The first thing you have to do is accept the fact that you have a budget. You've got to cut that guest list in half. If you do, you can host a nice Sunday brunch wedding with your $10K. Really, people do understand that weddings cost money. Go over your guest list a second time and then a third time. Leave room for a few friends, but if family is that important, you'll have to explain to your friends that it's family only.

It's not south Jersey, but try the Garden Vista Ballroom, in Passaic. Jim, the owner, is a total sweetheart, and his pricing is very, very fair. It's a landmark historic property.

Also, not in South Jersey, but sweet, interesting and very reasonable is the Spa at Lake Hird.

But I agree with the other comments; May 3d is like tomorrow in Wedding Time. Try cutting the guest list too; big families or no, a budget is a budget. Unless you're looking for tea sandwiches and punch at the church, that money is not going to cover that many people.

NJ bride here too!! I don't want to bring you down, but unfortunately a 150-200 guest list is too large for a 10K budget, especially here in NJ. The only thing I feel that you could do is cut the guest list in at least half in order to stay within that range.

I recommend Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood. Tracey is awesome to work with and helped us book within our budget.

Try an elks hall or some kind of recreation hall. Thats what I am doing we our budget is around 10,000 too and have 175-200 guest. Because our hall is only 300 we were able to splurge on a photo booth. Also use connections when planning everything else you save a ton of money.

We did a historic landmark for 75 ppl at 10K. We decided what was important to us and went for an afternoon wedding with no alcohol to keep on budget. We are not drinkers and don't have any desire to do the "party" atmosphere. We put the biggest chunk of our money into food stations, beverages including a coffee and mulled cider bar.
