Help! Eyebrow wax burns and wedding is in 4 days!

Courtney, on May 11, 2018 at 11:04 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

So I had my eyebrows waxed this afternoon, and my skin lifted pretty bad under each eyebrow. Our wedding is in FOUR DAYS and in HAWAII, so I am panicking at this point.

I've been applying a layer of neosporin regularly (aloe vera stung too much upon application). The neosporin has kept it hydrated and the pain down, but I am extremely worried about the healing process and possible scabbing/scarring.

Has this ever happened to anyone? How long did it take to heal? Any suggestions for a fast healing process? Any feedback welcomed!

Could you go to urgent care maybe they have something to use to speed up healing time? I hope you feel better soon

It’s a little bit late for that tonight. If it doesn’t look better in the morning I will!

Im sorry this happened but please do not waste healthcare dollars going to urgent care for this. There is nothing that will help speed up healing. You can try vitamin E on it, best if you get capsules and pop with a pin and squeeze them out. You might also try asking the place where you got them done at.

I agree!!! I broke the tip of my nose and got a very deep scratch With some serious bleeding (see separate post)... you know what they sent me home with? Neosporin... there’s no miracle cream in the ER... and I had to beg for an ice pack...
OP, go see a dermatologist... ERs should be reserved for emergencies.

Aw so sorry that happened! My skin doesn’t get burned but when I get it waxed it is red for literally over 8 hours and sometimes the next day. Aloe Vera should work good as a cooling agent and help with any redness. I’m not sure how bad it is but it shouldn’t take more than 2 days to heal. Also try and eat fruits and foods with antioxidants to help naturally heal the body. Positive thoughts and vibes !

Vitamin E oil is great and like another PP suggested please don't waste healthcare dollars on this unless its so bad you think you need skin graphs or something.

UPDATE: It looks soo much better this morning. The redness is almost gone and swelling has gone down. I still have streaks under each eyebrow, but I’ve been keeping Neosporin on them, so hopefully they won’t scab over. Luckily I had eyelash extensions put in, so it somewhat covers it lol!

I went ahead and reached out to my MUA, and she said they have a silicone-based cover up that works miracles. I feel so much better knowing that. Thank you all so much for your suggestions and the positive thoughts! I will keep you updated!

Thanks for sharing! Just happened to me on Friday. I will try the aloe or Neosporin. I am attending a conference, which is the worst time to be dealing with a wax burn under the brow area. I will never get this done again!

Is the next-day improvement the result of using Neosporin on the burnt area?

Further to my previous comment asking about Neosporin, I had a terrible wax burn this morning which led me to this thread after some Googling. I tried Neosporin as per this thread, then I realized it contains *petroleum jelly* which TRAPS heat and should never, EVER be applied immediately after a burn. After the burn has healed and scabbed, Neosporin can prevent scarring, but it should NOT be used immediately following a burn. I then remembered my handy-dandy French burn cream "BIAFINE" in my fridge; available for 20 Euro in France (where I got mine), but also on AMAZON for slightly more than that. I rubbed it on my burns every hour and the dark red lesions from the burns have turned to a slightly-darker-than-my-original-color, color.

If you have time to order this on Amazon, or are prone to ripping or frequently wax, I HIGHLY recommend keeping this in your cabinet. It comes in handy for wax-emergencies; and even otherwise, cools and calms the waxed area, preventing bumps and heat-related problems (waxing both opens pores, AND generates in heat because overstimulates the blood circulation that causes redness). I ONLY use it after waxes, so the tube has lasted me over a year! I hope this helps you guys!
