Help! Dress remorse... Is this normal?!

mindy, on April 18, 2016 at 8:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

So, literally about a month out before my wedding. I'm having some dress remorse. I love my dress, but now I'm feeling like I could have gotten another dress. Given, we only had three and half months to plan a wedding so time wasn't really on my side. I also feel that the dress is very flattering for my body type and fits the venue (small backyard wedding) So I love the dress that I found for the time that I had and the price too was great! (Only $349) did any of you girls experience any dress remorse? One of my friends suggested to go look at more dresses, which should confirm that the dress I chose is the one for me. What do you guys think?

I think you look amazing in that dress!

If you did go looking at more dresses what happens if you find another you think you like more? Can you afford to buy another dress? Will it come in time? Well you be able to alter it and have it by the day of? Just things to think about.

I personally think on your wedding day with your hair and make up down and in that dress you will love it and have no regrets. I hope everything works out for your!

I know that I sometimes feel like I picked the wrong dress, especially when I'm on Pinterest and I see a beautiful dress. I try to remember how much I loved it when I picked it. Don't go dress shopping again unless you would definitely buy another dress. I think your dress looks beautiful! Don't doubt yourself.

DON'T look at more dresses, it will make things worse! That dress is beautiful and it fits you wonderfully. Also, Nicole is right, it's so different with your hair, makeup, etc.

I've been feeling the same way! I refuse to look at other dresses though, since I already paid for mine lol. Just remember the feeling you had when you decided that was the one. Also, it's gorgeous! You look great Smiley smile

I love the dress. Looks great on you. I feel you though. I started browsing bridesmaids dress and see other wedding dresses. Then I start thinking mine is too plain or boring. You look great, try not to focus on those thoughts.

It's gorgeous! But yes, it's totally normal. I had dress regret from the day I bought my dress until my actual wedding day. I kept thinking I could have found something better and continued to google dresses. However, when the big day came and my hair and makeup was done and I put on my dress I felt amazing and remembered why I picked the dress I did. Your dress is really pretty and I'm sure you'll stop thinking about it once the big day comes. Maybe shift your focus on finding a super cute cocktail dress you can wear on your honeymoon to help you stop thinking about it. I wanted a lace wedding dress but didn't get one so I hunted down a lace dress to wear to a formal night on my cruise.

That's my dress!!! I felt the same way, but remember you picked it for a reason. Did you get alterations yet? They are a nightmare because of the asymmetrical design.

@Kathryn- Dress Twin!! you look great as well! My dress is at the alterations as we speak. I didn't go through davids, which I know they would have charged an arm and a leg. But I am just taking it out some, so my boobs aren't so smooshed and a bustle. The hem is perfect, because I am 5'8.

Thanks girls for the reassurance. Smiley smile

I think every bride kinda feels that way a little. I know after I ordered my dress I would see others in magazines and wonder if I should have gotten a different style or something not as big. You just need to fall in love with the dress you chose again! Don't doubt yourself you picked it because you loved it. It's a really bad idea to go look at other dresses in my opinion because I think it will confuse you more.

Be careful with the bustle I saw someone with same dress and they destroyed the bustle. I went with a 5 pt French bustle

And I'm having dress regret too. Like, does it make me look fatter than another dress?? No lie. Sigh.

My mother bough my dress for me as a gift. Before she did she asked me 400 times if I were sure, and that I wasn't going to change my mind about my dress choice. When I saw my dress I loved the style and decided I wanted that type of dress. Although, I looked at hundreds of dresses, my heart was still set on my dress. After I bought it, I questioned if I made the right choice...then got it out of my mind and told myself that's it, I was trippen and I loved that dress and didn't want anything else. Your dress looks fantastic on you, it's going to look fantastic on your wedding day. Relax and continue with your wedding planning... Your dress is fabulous!

You look amazing in that dress! I think when we see all the dresses online and posts from other brides in their dresses, it definitely makes us question if we made the right decision but try to remember the moment you knew that was the dress. You picked it for a reason. I think you look stunning!

Dress regret is more common than you think! I know my opinion might not matter much, but I think that dress looks perfect on you. Smiley smile

I have definitely had that feeling on and off for a while about mine too, completely normal I'd say!

Don't look at other dresses. DO try on your dress for someone who will remind you how awesome it is.

I love your dress, it looks so great on you, I think you will get over it once you are gussied up, hair done, etc.!
