Help! Details card with schedule for traditional mexican wedding

Zaira, on July 8, 2019 at 2:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hello everyone! My fiance and I are having a Mexican traditional wedding in February and I have come across "details" cards online as I was searching for invitations. So, I have been thinking of having Detail cards with the order of events that will be happening at the reception (ex. La vibora, bouquet toss, la liga, el baile del muerto, money dance, el mandilon). The idea of that, would be to let the guests know the kind of traditional dances and activities we will be doing that way, they can be prepared for them. I have already given out our Save the Dates, but some of our families (mostly old school) are clue less of what they are and keep confusing them with the invitations lol so I have to explain to them the reason for giving them out. I am worried that they will not get the point of the details card or will think it's dumb or even that I am being too much for them lol so if anyone has any opinions, please let me know if adding the cards to the invites will be a good idea or not (before I waste more paper and money on them haha) Muchas gracias!! Thanks!!

I'm not sure its necessary. You could just as easily do up a day of program to include that info on the wedding day.
I'm not sure I would really know or care what the order of events like dances and stuff are before even saying I'll attend.

I don't think you need to add the cards to the invites. However as Chandra suggested you could do a program to hand out the day of or have all the days activities listed on a board at the reception area. But i think your best bet is to include all your activities with the breakdown of order and times on your wedding website! Include your wedding website information on the invites and they can see the order of the events there. I have a lot of members of my family who are pretty old school as well and the concept of a wedding website would be pretty unknown/different for them but I think once they are in there they'll see it's really easy to navigate through and all your information will be on there (and then some!) instead of having a bloated invitation.

Hi Kimberly. Thank you for your opinion. I did not create a wedding website because when i was pregnant with my son, I created a baby registry and sent it out on the invite, and believe it or not, only 1 person in my family logged in to view and purchase the items. Therefore, I will no longer add anything related to website and computers lol The program is a great idea and i will probably do that instead. One of my friends added that sending out the details card might let ppl know in advance to carry cash with them for the money dance. Because, honestly, who carries cash nowadays? Or is it just me?

Hey Zaira! Congratulations on your engagement!

As the pps mentioned, you only have to include details cards if you want to. If the only reason you are adding them is that you feel like you have to then don’t worry! They are totally optional and a display sign at your wedding with a schedule of events will work perfectly.

If you are still wondering about details cards, usually what couples have on them are details of nearby hotels for guests that will be traveling, directions to the venue, RSVP information, and attire information. As I said, these are totally optional so you should decide what is best for your wedding!

Oh geez I can see the issue then. Well in your case since most of your family did not respond to the website I would say include the details card and definitely mention the money dance because I am right there with you; I have no idea who carries cash these day so your guests should know ahead of time to have some handy for the wedding.
