Help! Can’t pick bridesmaids colors

Tina, on January 28, 2023 at 11:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 9
Hello everyone,

Help! So I had to rush plan my wedding because my dad was suddenly out on critical care and we wanted him with us. Well he’s doing much better now but here we are 3 months to the wedding and no dresses for the bridesmaids picked yet.
I sent out invitations in a light purple, the wedding is in spring and I like the light lilac color but lord I don’t like it on a dress. My friends are all in the their 30s or 40s and so I don’t want them looking like Barbie’s. Most of my friends are pale and I also don’t want them to look to flushed out.
My fiancé doesn’t like the mix and match thing so I’m going to pick a solid color with different designs. I’m starting to regret this purple pastel decision.
Worth noting, the guys are wearing black tuxedos and it is a black tie event.
I’ve attached the venue and the lighting inspirations and flower inspiration
We are probably going to go with Azazie because we like the styles but when I got the swatches I was thrown off.
I like the Plum, bust also the Vintage Mauve (I liked it in pictures but not the swatch), my brides Maude’s like the Tahiti which is too purple in my opinion.
Please help!

If you like the plum, why don't you go with that? Based on what I see online I also like grape and raspberry. If you don't want purple do you have secondary color that you might like?

I think plum, or grape color would look fine. Tahiti is a beautiful light purple. As long as they are wearing formal floor length gowns I don't think they'd look very barbie like.

Would you consider a different color? Greens? Blues? Reds?

The girls should wear black as well with a colored accent, or have them wear steel gray with a colored accent. Purple pastel is very hard to pull off as an evening look, especially for black tie.

I'm doing Azazie Grape colored dresses for mine. I think that would be a solid option for you if you are looking for purple that or Raspberry.

I like the plum as well it would look the most formal. It's a very sophisticated purple and would look great with the black tux, don't let the bridesmaids dictate this for you its your vision and I think you have great taste.

Agree with Seawitch88. Go with your first choice plum. Grape, black, or dark grey are also suitable. Pastels should be left to 20-somethings in day weddings, not black tie (says this middle-aged lady).

I think any shade of purple would compliment lilac. Darker colors tend to work better for pale people as well (speaking from experience there lol). I agree that black or grey would also look nice.

Pick another shade of purple that you like and it will be beautiful. You can always put some light purple flowers or ribbons in the bouquets and on the tables to tie it in
