Hi ladies, I really need some advice on this. Yesterday one of my 7 bridesmaids told me she couldn't be in the wedding anymore due to some personal problems. I tried everything I could to help her out, but now I'm down one bridesmaid. Is it acceptable to then ask someone else to step in? Has this happened to any of you? Just not sure what to do next, especially since I bought all the BM gifts and dresses are getting ordered.

Nothing you can do about the gifts - this happened to me and I kept the gift myself and used it.

    Don't replace the bridesmaid.

Sorry to hear she backed out.

You have enough BM it wont be awkward to have uneven. Being a backup is shitty unless there is someone you know that has really wanted to be in the wedding.

I had a bridesman drop out at the last minute due to an unexpected death in his family. We just had 5 pairs and a group of 3. You can still give her the gift and let her know that if circumstances change, she's welcome to walk with the wedding party.

I too had a BM drop out. We have an uneven number of 4 BM and 5 GM. I was worried about it at first, but it is what it is... right?

I had 2 of my BM drop out due to my boss accepting an event the day before my destination wedding. (Insert eye roll) I ended up still giving them their BM gifts minus the hangover kits since they won't be traveling with us and left it at that. FH suggested asking his sisters to fill in since they've been super helpful with planning but I nixed that idea as we aren't really close.

Having uneven numbers is perfectly fine. I wouldn't add another girl.
