Hi all! My wedding was going to be sept 5 2020 and we have decided to postpone til spring of next year.. we already had my bridal shower planned along with the registry.. which people have already
Purchased gifts. I wasn’t sure if it was weird to still have the shower this summer since the wedding has changed dates..

They have already given you gifts from the registry? If so that’s fine, just send a thank you card

Yes some have.. but some haven’t. Just wasn’t sure if it would be weird to have the shower even if the wedding isn’t til spring now ..since we have already planned for the whole shower

Since you’re still getting married I think it’s fine to keep the gifts but be sure to send a thank you note

If it’s safe in your area to have the shower, I don’t think that’s weird at all! I went to a shower 6 months before a wedding and didn’t even notice.

If you’re still getting married and COVID restrictions are allowing for you to have your shower now, then I think it’s completely appropriate to continue with the planned shower.

I think people will understand. We had my shower the day after my fiancé and I decided to postpone our wedding. My mom, sister, and bridesmaids had been planning for a month, so we went forward with it. It was amazing to finally see (outside, socially distanced, and masked) my friends and family after being quarantined for months. Everyone understood why we postponed but still expressed how happy they were to come to the shower.

We are in this situation too! Our wedding is scheduled for October but I think we are leaning towards moving it to April. Our bach party is in September and we are thinking of keeping the shower in the summer as well, if my cousin still wants to hold it. I didn't really want to have all of the wedding events 6 months before the wedding, but I think summer outdoor events would be better than indoor events in Feb. or whenever.

Definitely not weird at all or you can even have it in the fall if you want to push it out a little to be closer to your new date. I would definitely start sending thank yous to those who sent a gift.
