help - backing out of contract w/ no deposit down

Madison, on February 14, 2020 at 2:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
Ladies, I am second guessing my venue. It’s still under construction and I’m just afraid it is not going to fit my vision. I signed a contract but have not paid the deposite. Am I safe to get out of it? Will they come after me?

I am unsure of how to handle the situation!!

Check your contract and see if they have a stipulation on cancelling! If there's something in there about cancelling prior to paying a deposit vs after a deposit then you need to consider your losses. Some venues have a 'You signed the Contract, so you're liable for the entire venue fee!!!!!" stipulation!

I agree with PP. Read your contract very carefully! I know reading every word of a contract isn’t fun, but in this situation, it is a must.

You should read the contract. Were you suppose to put down a deposit?

A lot of venues will only consider the date booked if a deposit has been put down. Make sure to check your contract, but you should be totally fine to back out.
