Help! 911!

Jennifer, on March 5, 2020 at 7:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
I’ve had my wedding dress hanging on the back of my closet door since I bought it. I went to take it out of the bag to see how well my veil looked with it and my dog has apparently been lifting his leg on it!! Is there a way to get it cleaned without having to pay someone to do it??? Like now?? I’m freaking out and I just want to get the stain out. Halllp.

My first thought was Nature's Miracle, it is amazing at getting pet stains out of carpets, maybe it will work with a veil too. White vinegar gets smells out, I've heard of people using white chalk to cover stains on wedding articles.... I'm hesitant to suggest bleach because veils are so delicate...

Whoops you might have been talking about your dress and not your veil. Either way here is something I found on a different thread on this site!

I haven’t heard of Folex. Where can I purchase it?

Is there a reason you don't want to have it professionally cleaned? If you've already invested in a dress I'd hate to cut corners at this point and potentially ruin the dress by doing it yourself.

PLEASE take it to get cleaned professionally. This is your wedding dress girl. Then after its cleaned put your dress higher up somewhere or somewhere your dog doesn't have access to.

I second (or third) for taking it to get professionally cleaned. It would be even more tragic if you used something too harsh for the material and something even worse happened. That is just my thought and probably what I would do. I hope it all works out!

I’m not opposed to getting it cleaned. Just had a slight panic attack and wanted to fix it ASAP. It only stained the lace layer at the bottom and I thought that maybe there would be an easy fix to get it out without spending $200 for a cleaner

I would have your dress professionally cleaned. Are you willing to take the chance on cleaning it yourself and possibly causing more damage? Trust the cleaners, this is what they get paid to do.

Giiiirl, I freaked out just thinking my cat peed on my dress once! I saw him sniffing around then bottom and I about had a heart attack. I've been keeping the closet door shut ever since. Hoping they get it taken care of for you!

Don't panic, everything has a solution.

If you can, I would recommend taking it to the cleaners, however before trying any other solutions that might ruin the material or the color, try plain soap and water on a damp towel.
It worked for my bride this weekend, she had makeup foundation poured on her dress by accident.

Nothing was working, not Clorox pens, or tide to go sticks....so I took a white towel hand towel and added soap to it with warm water and scrubbed gently until it came off.

    Best of Luck!

I would definitely take it and have it professionally done. I would be so upset if I put a chemical on it that ruined it.

I've seen this post a couple times now and wanted to ask - did you find anything that worked or did you just go get it done professionally? Hope it worked out!

I would get it professionally cleaned! Whatever the cost, it will be worth it! A professional will be able to get the stain as well as the smell out.
