Helium 36" round balloons/ helium cost

Mom to the Bride, on October 21, 2016 at 10:41 PM

Posted in Planning 41

Hi. So my daughter wants those big round helium 36" balloons (15-30 balloons) as part of the reception decorations. I'm having no luck finding rental helium tanks......and if I eventually do I'm wondering how expensive this is going to be. Are any of you planning to use balloons?

@Punkin, the responses didn't violate CGs, but OP certainly did.

OP is allowed to have an opinion about what is and what isn't rude but that doesn't mean it's against the CGs.

You probably cannot find that much helium in a store because it is a RARE ELEMENT.

Helium is not "created" nor can it be "created" it has to be mined and according to studies its going to be completely mined out by 2018 with whatever is left being 100% privatized, so no we will not be using balloons at our wedding because I see no need to contribute to the depletion of this natural resource.

I think WWLynnie would have to verify that particular sentence. It seems offensive to me but with the rule changes today, I'm not sure....

Shannon R and Samantha I found what I needed, thank you though ?? And it's my daughter who is getting married. Both her and her fiancé are in college and work so they've asked me to help locate the helium tank and balloons and a few other things. We are having a blast with the planning. She found her dress a couple of weekends ago and she looks like a beautiful princess to me ??

I used them for my first look. We had a helium tank, I think it was $60 to fill. I ordered them online from Walmart

Some balloons like the 36" your talking about I think looking very classy at a wedding. It's very high impact, low cost decorations. If you go for colours like white, gold, silver, and black, they look sooo good. I would be vigilant when shopping for helium and balloons. Prices can vary widely, and you can get gouged depending on where you get it. Party stores can be your best bet, especially if they've been in business a long time, but you still might end up in a scenario where you're paying inflated prices. I've scoured the internet and found the best prices at Balloons Online Balloons.online

That's where I'm getting them anyways. Check out the pictures. Stuff like that is gorgeous.

Shouldn't be that pricey. Those 36" balloons can be inflated to 2.5ft or 3ft. If you inflate them to 2.5ft, they take approximately 8 cubic feet of helium, or if you inflate them to the full 3ft, they take 15 cubic feet of helium. For 15 to 30, you're looking at 120ft3 to 450ft3 depending on how many you decide you want or how much you want to spend.

    Inflated to 2.5ft:

    15 Balloons: 120ft3

    30 Balloons: 240ft3

    Inflated to 3ft:

    15 Balloons: 225ft3

    30 Balloons: 450ft3

That being said, the balloon time kits you can get at party stores and Walmart will not do it. they only have 8 to 14ft3!!! Won't even make a dent. The largest helium tank you can get in North America would be the 286/291 ft3 tank. So you'll need 1 or 2 of those depending on how big you want to inflate them and how many you want to inflate. You should be able to find them for $180 to $200 a tank depending on where you are.

They shouldn't be hard to find. You can search for industrial gas or welding supply companies in your area. Any gas depots that sell welding gases should have helium as well. Certain party stores might carry tanks for rent, but they usually only carry the little ones, which we already figured out won't cut it. I know companies like Linde, Air Liquide and Surprize Enterprize will have it. And they're all across Canada. Surprize Enterprize seems to be the best bet because they not only supply it themselves, but source it for you.

    Helium Tank Rental

Alternatively, you can always contact a balloon decorator and they will do it all for you, but of course you'll pay a premium for the service and labor.

Either way it's up to you, but it's not difficult to find.
