Heirloom wedding details

There are so many ways to incorporate family heirlooms into your wedding day. Wearing a beloved family member's dress, veil, or jewelry is one of the more common ways, but the options are limitless. Are you using any heirloom pieces on your wedding day?

My engagement ring has been in FHs family for five generations. I love it so so much! (Which is awesome, cause I told FH if he ever got me a super expensive ring, it'd end up at a pawn shop the next day 😂)

I wore my mom’s veil - my sister also wore it at her wedding. I walked down the aisle to the same song as both of them as well. When cutting our cake we used my parents’ wedding cup and during toasts given by the BM and MOH We used etched Bride and Groom champagne glasses that were his parents’. I also wore a ring of his mother’s for my something blue.

    That ring is incredible!!

This ring is the same on my father proposed with. I was too young to remember it but apparently when the original diamond fell out I asked my mom if I could have the ring.

I wanted to incorporate her wedding dress but since my grandmother handmade it, I couldn't take any pieces of it. My mom is hoping a grandchild will want to wear it and it can be passed on whole.

I am planning to take a small piece of fabric from my mom’s dress, my two grandmothers’ dresses, and my dress and make a headband to wear.

My aunt passed away last year not long after I'd gotten engaged. When I visited, she gifted me one of her bracelets to wear at the wedding so that I had something of hers there. It was a really sweet guesture and she chose something completely right for me

Unfortunately my parents never had an actual wedding and DH parents were never married. He also doesn’t get along great with his moms husband. Our goal it to make this situation disappear for our children. We got married in 2011 at the Korea embassy (military). And we are finally having the wedding, for us and for my kids. My daughters will be flower girls and I ordered charms for their baskets that can be used on their bouquets in their future weddings. I’m still looking for something sentimental for my son.

This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the wedding! We're using my FH parents cake cutting set from their wedding and the champagne glasses from my parents wedding. I'm using parts of both our mothers dresses in my veil, my bouquet wrap and some hankies. I'll also be wearing the earrings my mom wore on her wedding day and a necklace that was my grandmothers. As my FH and I have lost people close to us it's a great feeling to incorporate pieces of them in our day.

My engagement ring was my grandmother’s and I’m going to be using her wedding band. I’m hoping to also use my godmother’s veil as long as the color is right.

We are using my grandparents cake topper and my matron of honor (one of my sisters) will be wearing the bracelet my late grandmother wore as a bridesmaid in her sisters wedding back in the 50's.

I wear my grandmother's engagement ring on my right hand every day, and I'll be wearing it on my wedding day too. It's my most prized possession (along with my own e-ring now). I'm also borrowing my mom's pearl bracelet, which she has owned for at least 30 years.

Unfortunately, I lost the diamond from my grandmom's ring, so it's a CZ in there for now, which is why it's so cloudy.

My mom has some pearl jewelry that was my grandmother’s that I was planning to wear. I loved it because it was hers and I genuinely liked the look. But we didn’t realize until a few months later when my mom happened to be going through old photos that my grandmother actually wore the necklace on her wedding day. It’s even more special now and I’m so happy to wear it.

Oh and reading the comments reminded me... I want to ask FILs to borrow their cake cutter from their wedding. We aren’t incorporating much from their side and I think it would be a nice touch.

No, not a single heirloom piece for my wedding because things like that weren't kept, or passed down, or had to begin with.

I'm wearing FMIL's pearl necklace. All the siblings, including FH, bought individual pearls to add to the necklace until it was complete so I'll have a little bit of his whole family with me.

I’ll be using this handmade lace tablecloth for the cake table. It’s a family tradition.
