Head Table/ Feasting Table - with a twist?

NotAllWhoWanderAreLost, on July 1, 2015 at 11:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

So, I finally started looking at my seating chart. At least a little. FH and I had decided a long time ago that we wanted to do a King's Table or Feasting Table or Harvest Table (whatever you want to call it) instead of a traditional head table. Because I hate head tables, and we wanted our bridal party to be able to sit with their dates, but we still wanted to sit with them.

We realized this morning that we need a minimum of 18 seats. What we had planned only had room for 16. If we put a sweetheart table in between two long tables like in the picture, do you think that would look ok? I don't really want to do chairs at the end, and my mother keeps demanding there is at least a small space in front of us so people can get pictures.

Do you have any other suggestions? Ways to do it?

I also included what we are planning for our family tables with our parents and aunts and uncles. Everyone else will be at round tables.

We did a Kings table for DH and I with the bridal party. It was set up in the middle of the guest tables and we were seated around the table, which everyone loved and enabled us to easily converse with each other. Your's looks fine

I think it looks fine. I might steal this idea cause FH and I are on totally different pages about sweetheart vs head table.

Thank you for the opinions guys, I keep staring at it and thinking it looks odd with the round table. But maybe it is just me being picky. And I really haven't been able to come up with a better option for the number of people we want to put around it!

You could also just replace the round table with rectangle and just not seat anyone opposite of you two. that way it isn't choppy

Why do you need a minimum of 18? Our king's table was set for 26 and we only had 24. Two empty seats weren't a big deal.

But I think it looks fine.

@Lori - I definitely phrased that wrong, we need 18 chairs. If we did three of the rectangular tables we would have 24 seats ... but only 18 people so I think that might look weird so either we would need to move people too it. Which would be difficult, or we would be super spaced out, which would defeat the purpose.

Replace the round table with a square (not retangular) table and it will fit fine!

We are planning to do this (sweetheart in between two rectangular tables). Go for it.
