I told him I didn't care and that I wasn't at all the jealous type if that is what he was worried about. But FH is putting his foot down. I have tossed the idea of a joint party where we do a scavenger hunt down on the strip and meet up for drinks afterwards (We are in Vegas) and he seems okay with that suggestion. Thoughts?

Eh @Promike depends on the situation. My FH doesn't have a cell phone (hasn't for close to a year), and, even when he had a cell phone, his family and friends would contact me to find out what FH was doing or to make plans with him. I can definitely see why a BM would contact the FW instead of FH lol. Maybe my situation is a little unique though...

Good for him. Let him do what he wants and stay out of it.

@Elizabeth I agree - FH doesn't have social media at all, and while he has a cell phone, he just isn't very good at making plans/keeping his calendar updated. When people try to make plans with him, he just tells them to talk to me lol. On the bright side, we almost never have to see people I don't particularly like as a result of this arrangement!

@Elizabeth @FutureMrs.Pej - that is sooo my FH too...though he does have social media. He just doesn't answer anyone. I am finding that I will be making all the decisions and have even created an e-calendar for him to receive notifications on important dates. Even my FSIL said that FH missed all the birthdays and whatnot. ....but not any more.....

I thought it might be something like that when I was typing my first reply. So as I was typing "have BM call FH", I thought... that might not work in the case of my FH lolol.

Glad I'm not alone! When the dentist started calling me with his appointments, I did do a *head meet desk*, but I don't mind really lol. He has social media, but he doesn't really use it. Same with email. We have a paper calendar that's hanging next to his desk that I write all of our activities in because I use to tell him our activities/plans but when they came around he would claim that I never told him. So now if it's on the calendar, he knows what's going on so he can be prepared. He's an introvert!

He *does* have a home phone for us... it's through magic jack. To be exact, a 1964 rotary phone, but it doesn't ring because the computer doesn't provide enough power. So people have to text me, and then I tell FH to call them. lol. Our system's not perfect but it works for us!

Since you live in Vegas he may feel like he basically *lives* a bachelor party every day and have no urge to waste a night doing one for real. Let him have it his way. If, in 40 years, he starts bemoaning how he never had one, he can go look at geriatric strippers *then*.

The scavenger hunt does sound fun! Also, FH doesn't necessarily want one either. He's not really a big drinker or partier so he said his bach party would be him working a shift at the fire hall with his friends. lol

My DH didn't get the chance to with a death in the family 1 month before the wedding even though he so badly wanted one. I didn't mind what he did for his Bachelor party, I wasn't having one though due to all my girls being out of state. When the time came, 2 days before the wedding our BP took us out to some bars and we all partied. The night before our wedding he did go out with the guys and partied as well and got his bachelor party! I didn't mind one bit =)

if he doesn't want one though, don't force him and make sure he's on board for a joint one. Mine was a blast! We went to 4 bars, 1 was a dueling piano bar and most of the songs are so inappropriate! We loved it. DH and I even had to go on stage!

Let him do his thing. My husband didn't want one and went out for a beer with a coworker the night before the wedding, was home by 8pm, and that was enough for him.

FH really didn't have one either. He has had 3 "guys weekends" this year though which is more than they have ever been able to do and I think it's wonderful (several of his friends live out of state). That being said, they hang out and play games - they are not really into the pub crawl/dance club thing.

My FH doesn't want one either and I'm fine with that I don't want a bachelorette party either. It's not my thing

@promike- Not necessarily. My DHs BM and his GMs all texted and emailed me because they were wondering when would be a good time to fly him out back east for what we thought was going to be his party. It ended up not happening (grandma) died, but they kept me partially in the loop as to not disrupt our planning/ appointments

Why is it bothering you so much? Not all guys want to do this, and they don't HAVE to! His friend should honor his wishes, IMO.

He could instead offer to take him out to a nice bar or maybe music club - whatever is his scene - and have drinks and just a quiet celebration. He may be trying to make *you* happy by agreeing to anything at all, so please make sure you're not forcing him to do something that he isn't into.

My DH was adamant he didn't want one. He gets social anxiety, and the idea of that sort of night out freaked him out - he doesn't like the attention on him, and prefers usually to hang with one or two good friends at a time at a quiet bar and just shoot the breeze. So it didn't surprise his BM and he did not push my DH on the issue.

My BFF's DH also did not want one - his BM told him they had to do *something*, and said he'd take him 1:1 to a strip club, which my BFF didn't care and was fine with - but her DH lasted about 30 min, said he was tired, and they went back to the BFF's place, had beers and played video games.

Not every guy wants a bachelor party (and not every woman wants a bachelorette party). Mine didn't want one. In fact, I know a few guys who had no interest in a bachelor party. If he doesn't want one, so be it.
