HCG diet- with pics-- for those who were curious

Well, this is my fourth week of doing the HCG injections and a limited diet of 800 calories per day. I've also added in work outs (only 2-3 times a week) and LOTS of water. I have officially lost 26 pounds in 30 days. It would have actually been higher, but we had our couple's shower and my 30th...

Well, this is my fourth week of doing the HCG injections and a limited diet of 800 calories per day. I've also added in work outs (only 2-3 times a week) and LOTS of water.

I have officially lost 26 pounds in 30 days. It would have actually been higher, but we had our couple's shower and my 30th birthday last week that caused some cheating.

As for side effects? I didn't really have any. It's true- you really aren't that hungry while taking the medicine. The b12 shots hurt like a bitch for some reason- but they are only once a week.

I have a lot more to lose- and it's hard to see much of a difference, but I do recognize the loss in my face. It's a start!

Just wanted to offer up my experience because I know a few other brides on here were considering it.

Pic one: before

Pic 2: after 3.5 weeks

Your results are great! I just want to say, though, that with your restriction of calories and your 3ish workouts per week, you probably could have achieved the same results. Give your self some credit! It wasn't the HCG that got you here - it was your very own willpower Smiley smile

    What is HCG?

And wouldn't you lose around that much weight from going down to 800 calories a day without any supplements?

    | you would starve to death and eat the entire world

    Those seem mutually exclusive.

ETA: Aren't you supposed to get the energy you need when you're starving from stored fat? isn't that it's entire fucking purpose?

Also not trying to be a debbie downer, but a friend of mine just did this and lost 47 lbs in 12 weeks... for the second time. She's done this before and gained it all back and then some. You really need to work hard at learning and sticking with healthy eating or it will totally backfire.

Emmy, yes I am doing it under doctor supervision. The phentermine can affect your blood pressure, so it's essential that you are being closely monitored.

Sarahdell- thank you! Yes you're right, I would have seen a loss but def not as much. I have hypothyroidism which makes weight loss an uphill battle sometimes.

Nicola- your concerns about gaining it back are legit. I recognize that in order to maintain any weight loss, the rest of my life will consist of some form of weight watchers. The tight restriction on calories is preparing me for the continuation of that (only with a reasonable daily intake.)

HCG diet includes phentermine? That's an appetite suppressant; it's like an amphetamine. So then what's the purpose of the HCG? You could lose tons of weight on phentermine alone, without the HCG. You won't be hungry at all. It's speed.

I don't understand this diet at all. I was going to look into it to help lose some of my "first year married" weight but this sounds scary.

PM me if you want more info on phentermine...I'm sure you might not want a horror story but I can tell you a few. Don't take it, please. It's dangerous.

Guys, she's doing this under doctor's supervision. She doesn't need to hear about why you think she shouldn't do it.

@OP I think you look beautiful in both your pictures! I definitely see a difference though, I hope it works well for you!

Well, my uncle died on phentermine, so I feel a responsibility to warn her. He was under a doctor's supervision as well.

    It's not safe.

@Kassy - just because the doctor has recommended it doesn't mean it's necessarily a good idea. I think people are fine to express their concern.

Personally all these kinds of diets sound brilliant - but you can achieve the same thing without doing damage to your body - it just takes more time. The faster you lose weight the easier it is to put it back on.

I think it's great that she's lost the weight and she's happy with it. But having been a yo-yo dieter and a fad dieter for my entire adult life I know the harm that can come from them. So I am just sharing my concerns.

I get that people can be concerned about the dangers of it. There was a discussion about that on her previous thread about this, and she decided to try it anyway, so it seems pointless to bring it up the same points when she's clearly made up her mind.

You can definitely see a difference, you look great!.

But like Livelybride said (outside of the horror stories..which may also be true) Phentermine is an appetite suppressant, that is why there is the lack of hunger. I've taken it before, and I've never heard of taking it, and then also doing HCG. I have heard it can be very dangerous, it is known to cause birth defects, and side effects like inability to sleep, nausea, etc. Like I said I have used it before, but I wouldn't totally recommend it. I recently lost 11lbs in 2.5 weeks doing a low carb, high (good) fat diet and regular exercise. It is always best to try and lose weight without medication in my experience because you always gain it back.

Anyway, you do look beautiful, and the point is to always feel great about your efforts and success in your weight loss journey

Lively- I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Are you sure it wasn't phen-phen that he was on? There was a lot of controversy over that drug and lives were lost- which is why it is now illegal.

I definitely understand and appreciate the concern. I did the first week with out the phentermine and still had an 8 pound loss. The HCG does something to make you not feel starving- but obviously the phentermine speeds up your metabolism. The first night? Sure. I didn't sleep great. But after that- I had zero side effects. (knock on wood.)

Thank you everyone for the kind comments! I plan to do two more months on the program and then transition to a slightly higher daily caloric intake through weight watchers.

Great job! Just make sure you transition to a maintenance diet to keep the weight off.

Edit because I'm so exhausted from low calories I hit the wrong button.

You look great, but I've witnessed first hand what it will do to you long term or when you stop. Good luck.
