Hawaii Honeymoon 2020

Sabrina, on May 15, 2020 at 4:01 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 27
Hi everyone! We have our honeymoon booked for the last week of July, (July 26th - August) right after our wedding. I have been monitoring the news closely, and am waiting to hear what the governor says as far as reopening their state for travel goes. Right now they have the mandatory 14 day quarantine in effect until the end of this month. So I’m hoping news is released soon. We are staying on Oahu, and I haven’t booked anything as far as activities go because I have no idea how things will play out. What are some things you have booked that you would recommend?

Definitely do a tour of the North Shore, a luau, hike diamond head (pretty easy and quick hike). If you’re feeling up to it— skydive!! It’s the most amazing experience and view! Smiley smile

I go there almost every year so if you need any more recommendations, feel free to direct message me!

I will be there for the wedding and honeymoon around that time too. I haven’t even book anything yet beside the venue.

I need to follow this thread to find out some activities too. I am interested on Luau, helicopter ride, lunch on sailboat, and lots of hiking!
Karla: Tell me more about the skydive!!!!!!

You’ll have so much fun with your wedding there! Smiley smile will you be island hopping for your honeymoon?? Where’s your venue??

So we celebrated my husband’s 30th birthday in Oahu and Maui a few years ago so I decided to surprise him with skydiving as his present. Haha it was so much fun and both of our first time doing it. I couldn’t imagine skydiving for the first time with any other view than the one in Hawaii!!
It was on the north shore side and I got each of us a cameraman to jump along and capture pics/videos. All in all, it was $800-900 for both of us and we got there around 930am and left around 1230 (there was some delay since it started raining in the morning so we couldn’t jump until it stopped and was clear). My brothers have done it and one of my bridesmaids has done it MULTIPLE time. It’s a experience I highly recommend to anyone who isn’t afraid of heights. Smiley smile

Well this thread is making me want to skydive haha. We are honeymooning in Oahu too, but ours is December. My fiancé has stayed there before and also recommended a luau and the diamond head hike. I’m also a huge LOST fan so we are visiting filming locations around the island. Hopefully the 14-day quarantine requirement is gone before you guys go!

No island hoping. We will fly to Big Island in a few months though. We booked a trip for this April to BI, but it got canceled because of Corona. Hawaiian Airline didn’t refund but gave us a year time to rebook 🙄.

Our venue is Wedding of Hawaii. They have great reviews, and nothing beats that location. I always dreamed about beach wedding since I was a teenager 💕 And honeymoon right after the wedding, I can’t ask for more. Video of location bellow.

The skydiving sounds amazing. We are hard core hikers and rock climber family, so yeah... we don’t have any issues with height. All though dh wasn’t impressed of bungee jumping when I mentioned it. Let’s see what he thinks about skydiving.

As for the Luau, I am thinking to join the one in Disney Aulani if they are open and available.

We are staying for 10 days. One day of it would be our wedding day, the rest of it I still have to plan where to go, what to do, and what to eat.

Oh no, seriously about your original flights?! Smiley sad they tried to do the same thing with us. We were supposed to fly to Sydney for part of our honeymoon in March, but that got cancelled and we forced Hawaiian Airlines to refund us.

Okay so definitely skydive if you can convince your hubby. It’ll be so memorable! Smiley smile
If the Aulani luau isn’t available, check out the Diamond Head Beach Luau at the aquarium. I took my best friend to Hawaii last fall and we went to that one— the food was yummy and the show was great! And it’s close by to waikiki so it doesn’t take like an hour to get to the luau a like some of the other ones do.
For food:Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck (North Shore) - the best!
    Matsumoto Shave Ice (North Shore)
Duke’s Waikiki - the food is good and I like to sit out in the patio area when they have live music playing and it’s happy hour. It’s ocean front.
    Hula Grill - yummy breakfast!
Eggs n Things - inexpensive and decent breakfast. Macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup... mmmm!
Roy’s - Most Roy’s restaurants are now owned by the same company as Applebee’s except for the ones in Hawaii so they’re still very authentic and much better quality than the chain!
    Leonard’s Bakery - malasadas!
Lappert’s - I love their ice cream. It’s so hard choosing just one flavor. I go there at least a few times when I’m in Waikiki.
At the Ala Moana mall, there’s this underground food court with a bunch of asian/Japanese food stalls. You can like get $2 beers and a bottle of wine for like $15 to drink there. They have a similar thing at the international market place as well!

It was just another flight to Big Island. Just a week vacay while the little one is on spring break, but yeah. I called 2x back in April, and dh called again yesterday because we rather have refunded and rebook. We bought it months ago because they had a deal. Now, with this credit we have to find same or lower price so we don’t have to pay more for the adjustment. That’s just not fair. Well, lets wait and see.

What is the name of the skydiving company? Let me check their website and get excited 😃
I was wondering if you can also suggest a fancy restaurant to have my small wedding dinner reception. It will just be us 6, and we all will be in fancy black and gold suit and dresses for the family photo shoot 🤪 So far I got La Mer, Beach House, or Orchid as options. I prefer European (I am half Italian) but open for any other classy experience.

Our original honeymoon was Hawaii and Kauai but we decided to cancel because we just didn’t know. Our wedding is June 6. We were going to do a helicopter tour, ATV tour, volcano park, zip lining, adventure tubing. Aww man, I can’t wait to reschedule that trip and do all of those things.

I live in upstate NY and our wedding was scheduled for 7/17 and Oahu wedding 7/22-7/31. If Hawaii lets people go, I am game to go. Hawaiian Airlines nonstop from Boston with a mask required to be on, with less amenities, is definitely making my fiancée have second thoughts about going. We don’t question the need of a mask, we just question our enjoyment of the experience.

Our venue doesn’t have any Fridays or Saturdays to reschedule our wedding until November 2021, besides Good Friday. We are now looking into elopement options in Hawaii. I’m looking for something non-beach (totally beautiful, sand just isn’t my best friend). Going to look into wedding of Hawaii to see if any options are out there. I inquired with our hotel too, but I expect skyrocket prices.

    Oooo okay, for nicer restaurants...

HY’s Steakhouse - They don’t have a view, but they have really good steaks!!! There is a dress code there which shouldn’t be a problem since you’re coming from a wedding. Smiley smile
    DK’s steakhouse - this place has a view! It’s good, but I prefer HY’s.
Arancino de Mare - Italian! It’s right across the street from the beach and is on the lower level of the Marriott. It was delish when I was last there. I got the Tagliatelle with prosciutto and mushrooms... I couldn’t stop myself from finishing it all.
Azure - asian fusion with seafood and steaks. Beachfront. I’ve only been here once, but it was delicious! It’s at my favorite hotel (Royal Hawaiian).
Alan Wong’s - no ocean view, but the ambience makes up for it. It’s pretty fancy and the food is to die for!
Michel’s - French food, very fine dining, and great view! It really has a great ambience and they have live music usually playing.
I will always recommend Roy’s! It’s the ultimate Hawaiian fusion experience. And when you get cold, they let you wear chef’s jackets haha

If you don’t want a beach ceremony— The Modern has BEAUTIFUL ceremonies at their pool areas! It’s gorgeous and definitely would have been one of my venue choices if I decided to get married in Hawaii instead of our final choice.

Isn’t that so cool?!! If you don’t want your guests’ feet in water, I think they just push up the seats on ground, but they put a platform as the aisle down the center of the pool so you and your wedding party would walk down it. It looks like you’re walking on water. Haha

Good luck planning! I’m sure whatever you choose is going to be beautiful! Smiley smile

Interesting place indeed! However, I always imagine my wedding ceremony at the beach, no one around, just us, peacefully, then honeymoon right away, just as we are planning it now 🏝👰🏻🤵🏻❤️

Sorry, Belle! I responded to the wrong thread. I meant that comment for a bride who said she was looking non-beach wedding. Hehe
