I didn't go for my honeymoon but I've been there ! It truly is like paradise. It is really expensive though unless you are outdoorsy and just do outdoorsy things

I just got back from Maui and Kauai (not honeymoon, just an excuse to use expiring points). I definitely recommend either (or both) of those islands over Oahu which is very touristy and more of a "concrete jungle" rather than a real one Smiley winking If you're outdoorsy there is so much to see and experience on those two islands. We were on Maui for 5 days and Kauai for 4, hiking almost every day with a few "rest days" sprinkled in. Parts of Maui are pretty touristy (Lahaina, Road to Hana) but there are other areas that are less popular and more beautiful. Kauai is really where the breathtaking visuals are, to me at least. I recommend saving some money by staying in a nice AirBnB and exploring the island with your FH! If you're looking to just kick back and relax at a nice resort, either island has those - but IMO you'd be missing out on SO much by just staying in a resort the whole time! Resorts will also be pretty pricey. What types of activities are you guys into?

Definitely pick up "Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook" and "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed". There's also a great app that serves as a tour guide as you drive (uses GPS) called "GyPSy Guide for Maui" - it's really great for curating your day trips on the fly.

Thank you so much! We will probably stay at a resort just so we can. We will definitely be doing out doorsy things! I definitely want to spending some time at the beach and doing anything else!

We went to Maui for 3 nights, Oahu for 4 nights in July of this year for our honeymoon. It was the best trip ever! I wish we would have planned for 10-14 days though instead of 7 nights. Here is my post about it: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/bah-hawaii/334fb5b96701643f.html

I live on Maui, so I'm pretty biased with this discussion. I LOVE the Hawaiian islands. Each has a different vibe and a variety of things to offer depending on your preferences. First, you need to decide which island(s) you want to visit and then go from there. In general, pros...amazing nature to explore, a beautiful culture, friendly people. Cons...it's quite expensive and some of the islands are getting pretty crowded and overrun with tourists. If you have specific questions, please let me know!
