Having my dress for longer than a year

I picked up my dress today and our wedding is not for another 453 days (yikes!!). Any tips/tricks for storing it until then, not spilling the beans to the fiancé, avoiding dress regret, etc. ?? Picture of it too because I’m obsessed (HP Markle, all Ivory)

That is gorgeous!!! I've had mine for about a year, to be honest. It was the very first wedding thing I did, even before deciding if we were eloping or doing the whole thing. A good tip is to STOP LOOKING at other dresses! Delete the other photos of you in different dresses that were close seconds from your phone. Mine's been in my closet in a bag all this time and FH said he wouldn't look, because he wants it to be a surprise that day. It's hanging with another wedding dress in an identical bag that I'm selling, so I think he doesn't even know (or care) which is which.

I wouldn't keep it hanging for over a year! I heard that can stretch out the straps. I've got mine laid across our spare bedroom.

    I got mine early too.
I suggest not looking at anymore dresses.
Keep it in a fabric garment bag away from light and dampness.
If you hang it up without slouching the better but my train is on the floor 😑
Keep pets and cigarettes away from it, if you have pets or smoke I find putting a strongly scented candle in the closet (unlight with the top off) a good oder eater, but your dress will absorb the smell so only do that if you have to and pick something floral or like laundry.

    I love that dress!!

Garment bag for sure, and store it in a cool, dark, dry place.

We have a guest room and FH never goes in there, so that is where I will be storing mine once it comes in.

Yikes! i am nervous about storing my dress for a week let alone that long! lol but yeah just get a good garment bag for sure! It is so beautiful and dreamy! I bought my dress a year in advance and I have no dress regret but I also didn't go look at dresses or try any on or anything like that. When i see peoples posts (like yourself) with pictures I'm like dang thats a pretty dress I wish I got something like that, then I look at a picture of me in my dress and remind myself I tried on a dress like that before and it wasn't for me! Pictures always make them look amazing lol. I just look at pictures of myself in mine and thats all the reassurance I need to know I got the right dress!

Firstly, this dress is gorgeous on you! It looks so pretty! *This is me totally gushing over how beautiful this dress is* secondly, I am storing my dress at my moms house in her closet upstairs. Her room is always colder so I'm not worried about the heat. I also was told to take it out of the bag so it wouldn't be so wrinkled. Yours looks fairly fluffy too (Like mine) so I would suggest finding somewhere like that so that you can let the dress breathe and also not worry about the sun directly hitting it to avoid any discoloration. As for dress regret! Oh please just don't! It seriously looks amazing on you!

Your dress is gorgeous! I left mine at my moms for safe keeping in the garment bag I got when I purchased it. Its getting altered now so its there until the week of the wedding.

I’d stay away from plastic, especially if your dress is made of natural fibers like silk, linen, cotton, wool or rayon(viscose). Go with a clean large undyed muslin dress/garment bag. It will allow the fabric to breathe. Plastic decays over time and let’s out fumes that can cause yellowing. The investment in a fabric bag will also ensure your dress will travel sturdier and safer. Plus you can use it after the wedding too. Choose a closet that gets some air circulation that doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic so your dress is out of the way and uncrowded. My dress is waiting in my mom’s closet(no chance of traffic these), my cleaners provided a muslin bag for me. I’m just repeating the advice they gave me.
