Anyone else having an afternoon wedding? We decided to have a 12-5pm reception because we are saving $1700 to have it during the day instead of at night. The menu for both day/night wedding is the same. Just don't feel it's worth it to pay the extra if we aren't going to get anything extra or...

We decided to have a 12-5pm reception because we are saving $1700 to have it during the day instead of at night. The menu for both day/night wedding is the same. Just don't feel it's worth it to pay the extra if we aren't going to get anything extra or different.

I do feel some people will complain but whatever we are paying for it and if they love us then they will make it there.

We are having a 10am ceremony with a cocktail hour starting at 11am (Catholic mass and wedding should take an hour). And a reception from 12-4. My family was happy it ended so early on a Sunday. This meant they would have time to travel home and go to work the next day (minus the out of state guests)

We are a 1:30 ceremony with the reception ending around 7:30. I was a little wary at first, but I think it will work well and give our guests a bit of flexibility.

I've never heard of anyone complaining about a daytime wedding. Unless you are asking guests to be somewhere crazy early in the morning, which you are not, I don't see what anyone would have to be upset about. My ceremony was at noon as that was the latest my church holds wedding ceremonies, and so my reception started right after because I didn't want my guests to have to fend for themselves in any sort of gap time. We held a casual after party for anyone who wasn't ready for the party to end at 6.

Our wedding is on a Sunday, so it made more sense to have an afternoon wedding rather than an evening one so folks could still get home with enough time to get ready for work the next day. Ceremony starts at 1PM, reception runs til 6:30.

I am also. I am doing the same times as you are and by having a daytime ceremony and reception I was able to get the venue on a Saturday daytime for $550.00

I don't think people will complain! It won't have the same party atmosphere as an evening wedding but you could also meet up with guests for sort of an after-party later if you wanted.

It'll be fab! Almost all our venues do an 11:30 ceremony, with reception until 4:30 or 5:00 PM, and on your particular weekend? This year we have four mornings and next year we have two already. It'll be wonderful!

And those who complain can stay the F$#@^# home.

Nessa, that view is GORGEOUS! A "must have daytime wedding" venue for sure! I would not want to miss that view.

This is where our wedding is going to be. We really want an outdoor ceremony so this place has been amazing! I fell in love right away and it has lots of windows for great natural lighting as well as views of the New York City skyline Smiley smile

@greenebunny thank you! This is in Douglaston. It's in Queens. A 10 minute drive from where I live so it worked out nicely.

We are doing brunch. Mimosas, rum punch, waffle bar. Definitely saving a lot of money. We don't drink (both FH and I are in recovery), but we still wanted to provide alcohol because our guests drink but also didn't want to pay more for the alcohol than for the food.. it seemed ridiculous to pay 5k on something we aren't partaking in but doing it in the morning we are only at about $700 for alcohol which is nice on our wallet.

We had an afternoon wedding too. We actually had a lot of people tell us how much they liked the timeline. I wouldn't sweat it!
