Have anyone used MARKEL AMERICAN INSURANCE for their event???

Never heard of them. I am using a site called GYKAM.com.

That's about right, and they are a fairly large/reputable company, just make sure their licensed in your state - google the xxxxstate department of insurance and they should have a database. There's another more familiar brand that I'm forgetting right now that's about the same price for $1mm liability, I'll look it up for you at work tomorrow, I just can't remember.

The only other thing that is weird is that there is a deductible. Liability insurance usually doesn't have this, only insurance covering stuff (like a house, car, renters, etc).

Did you call your homeowners insurance? Most will cover special events but not liquor liability. Still it would be worth a shot because it's probably closer to $50 if they did cover it...

I am using them, they gave the best quote for both liability and event insurance. I dis some research and they seem like a pretty reputable company.

The will insure for cancellation and stuff, too, (event insurance). I underestimated the price for $1mm but the price for $500k is comparable to what you've been quoted.
