Has anyone used Artifact Uprising for a guestbook (or other photo book)?

Amy, on June 14, 2018 at 6:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I love the simplicity of the design, the fabric binding, layflat pages, eggshell paper finish option, and from what I've read the prints are of high quality ... but is it worth the price? Should we just go with a more affordable option? I've had canvas prints made at Walgreens of all places and have been satisfied with the quality for instance, but I've never tried a photo book from them.

TIA!

Following, as I'm considering them as well. They're still more affordable than the ones through our photographer!

I actually have one in our wedding registry. I was told they are outstanding, but I've not seen one in person.

I received my guestbook yesterday and I really love it! I used our e-pics and left space for people to sign. I found AU’s software very user- friendly. The cover is covered in fabric and I had our initials foil stamped on the cover. I went with their Mohawk Superfine paper which is what they recommend bc it absorbs ink quickly. What I didn’t realize is that the pages are mounted on mat board so the pages are thick! No risk of tearing! I feel like it’s an art book that I know I’ll love looking at for years to come. FH hasn’t seen it yet and I’m so excited to show him!

Ok so I was the second shooter at a wedding last weekend and the bride used this book. Beautiful book, stunning picture quality. One thing I hated though: On page one, she had a photo that took up some of the page, and some guests wrote cute little notes all around the photo. On page two, it was a blank page and a photo page. All the guests on the blank page just wrote their name in a line, resembling any other lined guest book. Since this didn’t take up any space, all of the other pages were blank. Does that make sense? It’s hard to paint that picture without showing you a photo of what it looked ljke. I wish the guests would have been smart enough to utilize the full purpose of the book and spread out their signatures. It looked weird with signatures only on the first two pages.

Ooh that’s a good point. I will be sure to tell our family and bridal party to spread out their messages so others can catch on Smiley winking

I'm interested in these as well. Generally, what do they cost? Do you "assemble" them yourself like you would through Shutterfly or another company?

That is great to hear! Thank you for your feedback, I really love the covers and can picture making others in the future of our wedding photos, different adventures, future kids, etc and having them all lined up on a shelf. Do you mind me asking how many pages you went with / how thick the overall book is?

Yikes, this is actually something I've been concerned with! I am hoping our guests will write more than just their name and to sign evenly distributed throughout the book... I was thinking maybe a little sign, or even a note inside the book (you can add a text box while designing) asking for well wishes and hope that people feel inclined to sign a message instead of just their names .. as for the distribution, I dunno haha - hopefully guests will want to peruse the photos and then see that there are blank spots, but I think I may take Janel's suggestion and have wedding parties take the lead on spreading things out haha

Glad to hear the quality was so nice though, thank you for your feedback!

The layflat books start at $139 for an 8x8 with 20 pages, but I think you can find coupon codes online, I had signed up for their email list a while back and received a 20% off coupon a couple days ago. Yeah you can select different layout options for each spread of pages and insert your photos, add a text box, etc but I think they also have an option to have someone design it for you if you want. I will say they don't do the page embellishments, printed backgrounds, etc that shutterfly does, I personally like the minimalist design, but some might miss those added fun design elements.

Ok I tried posting this a couple times now. I got the 12x12 and didn’t add any pages. I think it’s 20 pages (front and back) and it’s 3/4 inch thick.

I was actually trying to find a good quality guest book as well! I stumbled upon this website that seems pretty good and the most affordable I have found.
