Has anyone tried the Bridal Buddy??

Erin, on August 22, 2018 at 7:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

I'm not a modest person but I am a severely self conscious person so the thought of needing someone in the bathroom with me gives me anxiety. My sisters are my MOHs but I'm embarrassed about my weight; even after losing 30 pounds. I wanted to buy the Bridal Buddy (see pictures below) and was curious if anyone has tried it or plans to use it too?

I didn't but I didn't have a ballgown so I just gathered my dress and threw it over my shoulder when I had to use the washroom.

You dont have to spend a fortune on the bridal buddy. You can buy black lawn and green trash bags. Cut a small hole it the bottom of the sealed seam. Then place your feet in the hole and pull it up gathering your gown. Even if you use a different bag each time you still will come no where near the $60 price tag

Then wouldn’t you be peeing in the trash bag?

It looks like it’s too long to go under my tea length dress. Otherwise I think I’d actually consider it.

You wouldn't need to carry around trash bags you could leave them in the bathroom at the location. Then you could use them when you need. You would not be peeing in the bag as you have cut a small hole in the bottom of the seam part creating a hole for your legs to go thru. You then pull the bag up to you waste containing your dress. Also, you wouldn't carry trash bags around as the venue usually has only one set of bathrooms. Another thing. who wants to carry around a bag, that has been on and off and all over the bathroom floor and shoved back into a bag. The premise is the same. You are only using the bag to go to the bathroom and then you remove the bag. You can then decide if you want to reuse it or throw it away. With the bridal buddy you have to unwrap it, place it on, take it off and bundle it up and lace back into the bag. here are you going to leave the bridal buddy? Are you going to carry it around by the bag on your arm for the world to see?

It looks like such a nice product. I too would love the independence of not needing help to do something as simple as going to the bathroom. I agree there are probably alternatives that you can find something or diy it for cheaper. My dress is not all that cumbersome but some of the dresses I tried on we so big and heavy and had so many layers, I could see where this would help. Happeningmom, did you see the photo this goes under your dress like a slip, and then stretches around the dress. So it shouldn't be dragged on the floor or need to be stored. You wear it all day like, a slip or extra tule. (I think)

This is a funny and decent review of the Bridal Buddy, and other ways of using the bathroom in your wedding dress. I considered it but ultimately took my chances without it. I had an A-line gown, so it was relatively easy to maneuver. Sitting backwards on the toilet really does make it easier too! (And I didn't need any help.)

I don't think it would work for a fitted mermaid/trumpet style. What do us ladies who are planning or have those supposed to do? Probably take those whole dn thing off lol

Sitting backwards on the toilet is actually pretty easy even with a full skirt.

I feel like that would make you feel really hot, plus the noise and just overall not make you feel particularly pretty or elegant.

You don’t wear it all day. You slip it on when you go to the restroom. I don’t typically feel pretty or elegant anytime I use the bathroom.

My dress is an a-line too. Maybe I'm just being neurotic in thinking this product would be easiest. Sitting backwards really works? I'll have my own bathroom in the bridal room attached to the venue. It has a long wide room with the toilet in case I did need help. I'll definitely try that.

Thank you ladies for all of your feedback. I definitely will not be using an actual trash bag.
