Has anyone purchased a wedding gown from Etsy???

I've found a dress that I just absolutely love but it kind of scares me to purchase something without trying it on. I have tried on a dress similar to this one at DB and it was one of my favorites.

Anyone have any preferred sellers on Etsy??

I don't like the way the gathering comes in on the back by the butt. Looks wrong.

PS, I think that's part of the wrap-around design. I like it! Doesn't bother me...

It just kinda looks like it's hanging off the mannequin's butt.

I am a seller on Etsy, have been for almost 6 years. All I am going to say is be careful with the wedding dress sellers. There are a few great ones on there, but Etsy is being taken over with resellers who are claiming to make these dresses and really not doing so.

Look for titles that look like codes, this is one way to tell a reseller from an actual designer. I am really skeptical about this shop, especially using a picture of a dress from a movie here:

    http://www.etsy.com/transaction/41351025

Instead of the picture of the actual dress that she actually made.

Yikes, also putting links to her website in her listings....totally against the rules. Really hard to believe one person is making hundreds of dresses available in any color you want.

Also some sellers create fake accounts and leave reviews for themselves. I will try to find some shops that I know are legit for you.

@Zaidat B.-I agree. I want to see THE dress that they make, not the dress that they're going to replicate. Are you familiar with weddingdressfantasy??? I know they have a FB page and a youtube channel.

That dress is very similar to a dress made by Alfred Angelo. Let me see if I can find the link/pic.

Here is an article the Glamour Magazine did about Etsy a few months ago. Check the comments. They had all these sellers featured that were resellers and it became a HUGE blowout! I believe they did remove the resellers, so the dresses you see now should be from actual designers who made them. I would hate for you to think you are getting a custom dress made by a small company, but instead get a poorly made mass produced dress.
