Has anyone had their make up done at the MAC store?

Jass, on July 21, 2010 at 4:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I was wondering if I could ask to have a bridal make up test there. Has anyone done it there?

I have a friend who got MAC products for her wedding, and she looked fantastic!

YES,,,,all of my makeup comes from thereSmiley smile

    .

A few hints when buying their makeup.

    .

They have an eyeshadow base that goes on before your shadow...it is the best! It is in a tube and you have to apply with a brush. I don't see it on their site. Sometimes i wear it instead of eyeshadow.

    ,

They also have a spray to keep your makeup on. It is called FIX

    ,

If you buy fake eyelashes, they are wonderful alsoSmiley smile

I went to sephora for my trial and the more I sit on it the more I do not like how they did my makeup or the last of professionalism with the MUA. Now When i went to prom I went to mac to get my makeup one and I loved it! This was quite a few years ago and Im not sure if things have changed..if it helps get a man to do your makeup LOL I had a man at MAC and it was awesome. he even trimmed my eyebrows LOL

I've had my make up done there before just for fun...They do an amazing job! I don't know if it applies in all Mac stores but If you buy $40 or more in merchandise they do your makeup for free!

I ditto what MJ said Smiley smile I had my makeup done there for senior prom, all I had to do was buy $40 or so worth of makeup. I think I still have those 2 eyeshadows too... Smiley tongue The only thing I warn is that some of the ladies/guys there go nuts with the makeup, so you might want to ask for a subtle look (if that's your style). Their makeup is already really heavy, so when they go nuts with the bright shadow, numerous layers of mascara, liner, lip color, and foundation/Studio Fix, it can look cakey. I'll see if I can dig up a prom photo for fun Smiley smile

My friend recommended MAC to me as well. She said the best thing about their make up is that it lasts through the tears, the sweats, and it dont come off on the gown and the guests =) I will look into it.

If you go during the week it's free to have a makeup trial. If you go Fri-Sun you have to spend $50 min in products.

Ditto Linda....I think I have a MAC trial pic for regular make-up and I can post the thread where I got an airbrush trial where they used MAC products. Please ignore the lip gloss we were really focusing on the foundation and eyes.....

I have seen people get their makeup done by them, but like stated above they can put it on really heavy, because that is what they were doing to the girl i saw. really heavy eyes, it came out nice, but just way to much makeup for me

Most mua at mac are good, but my friend just recently had her make up done there and they didn't do too good of a job. I love their make up and have lots, but if you do decide to go, make sure you give yourself plenty of time, just in case you need to make any changes

The only thing I would say is be very careful because in the store they are only concerned with selling you the products. So just be careful and watch what they do. Also make sure you tell them what look you are going for. So you don't walk out with hot pink eyeshadow or bright orangey red lip.

I was just in there this week (with intentions of buying so I'm not sure what the limit was/would have been) and the lady was very helpful. I told her I was looking for color for my wedding day to DIY and she showed me on one eye, and let me do the other step-by-step. I'd suggest going at a slow time so you feel like you get the attention you need. I think I spent like 1-1.5 hours there trying different colors and combos.

MAC did my makeup for our engagement shoot! I was beyond thrilled with them. They don't disappoint trust me. I bought $50 worth of makeup and my makeup for the engagement shoot was free. You can't go wrong with MAC
