We decided on a semi/nearly naked cake, but now I'm starting to worry that without the icing covering the entire cake, the cake will become dry. Did anyone with this type of cake have any issues?

Baily, I really have no desire to be 'made the fool", or be a topic of a thread, okay? I come here to give advice, and since clearly it wasn't appreciated in this case, I took everything down.
This isn't the hill I want to die on.
If you have vow questions, NJ questions or ceremony questions. I'm here. Other than that, do exactly what you want.
I'm obsessed with them! I think they are so pretty! I'm not doing one because I want sparkles and shit on mine. I think it will be pretty! Just like with any cake when you try it out be honest with yourself.. if it's dry move on. Ask the baker how long ago your sample was baked and if that's the timeframe in which your cake will be done. If your happy then you should be in the clear!
@celia except you only kept up your posts about how much you hate naked cakes. Nothing was helpful, so I don't see the point of only taking down 3/4 of what you commented. But hey! You do you.
Well...that escalated quickly! We are considering a naked cake for our celebration of marriage on 4/22/17 as well. I love the look of them and think it goes best with our breakfast for dinner menu. Based on everyone's advice, I will be sure to seek a professional that is experienced with these types of cakes.
Browsing through some of these comments and you made a comment on how people were nasty... And I just noticed on page 5... Ciera commented... like others... what was the purpose of your @Ciera, good for you! Unless I missed something that Ciera posted , or am I reading it completely different than you are?
My freakin goodness, I make a note to myself when I see threads like this and how the OP comments towards other posters.. Not that you care, and I'm sure that will be your next response "Well then don't comment on my post" , but it definitely makes me avoid anything in the future that you might post.....
@lelad I'm totally fine if you avoid my posts in the future. You're reading edited comments which I commented on before her ETA, ciera posted "they are so common, that's about all I see these days and I dislike them but if it's your vision go for it"
Good for her! And good for you! This thread is dead and you're late to the party.
Not late to the party, I commented early on in the post. It wasn't until I saw you come out of your shell that I realized your future posts would probably be just about the same as this one.
I personally love naked cakes and am considering one for my wedding as well! My mom actually owns a cake bakery and has made several of them for weddings. Most brides tend to put a fruit filling between the layers to give it even more flavor. She normally doesn't set up her cakes until about 1-2 hours before the reception so I would just ask your baker if they could set it up later if you're worried about it not remaining moist. However, the cake losing its moistness should not be an issue unless it was rather dry to begin with.
Sorry Lela but Bailey stood her ground. she asked people who have had naked cakes at their wedding and wanted advice about them. then everyone wanted to be debbie downers and talk crap about naked cakes when that wasn't the purpose of the post. that right there makes people not want to post about things because too many people want to add their opinion for no reason when its not asked for. keep on keeping on Bailey.
I'm sure it's frustrating too when people aren't even acknowledging the question at hand. It's fine for people to have their opinions, but that's not what Bailey asked for. Pretty sure she was going to have a naked cake regardless of what other people thought of them. Not sure why it escalated so much anyway. It's not like she's NOT having a dessert at her wedding, she's having a cake that some people just don't think is aesthetically pleasing. As long as there's cake or a dessert, who cares?!
