Hardest part of your wedding planning?

Sherraine, on June 19, 2019 at 11:08 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

What's been the hardest part for you? for me, it's been keeping the budget and finding the right venue that suits both my wallet and ideal vision.

so far I've been able to warm up to the idea of a park for my ceremony. I didn't realize how beautiful the venue was. Also, the trees make a beautiful natural arch that really goes well with my theme

Right now it's finding a DJ that's affordable and doesn't take up half my entire budget.

I think it was logistics. My husband wanted a diy boba tea bar and that was meant for our reception but I said no let's do it during our diy cocktail hour and that thank God Was a better idea because it meant we needed to make far less tea and stuff. If he did it for reception he would have needed to make 20 gallons at least. It was also the logistics of having little time to set up due to me wanting to have no gaps but I ended up hiring a coordinator to set it up for me. So all in all everything worked out.

Honestly, it's been trusting my travel agent and reception planner. Its hard for me to relinquish control but harder when I'm constantly having to follow up because they've unprofessional and not business like. I paid them to do the job that I've still been having to do.

For me, it's the clothes. I'm a fat girl and I just can't seem to find a dress that fits my requirements (tea length but not shorter than my knees because of my wheelchair, have to be able to wear it again because that's a LOT of money to wear once, red, modest, covers my back because of acne issues caused by my meds, and fun) and that goes with his style he's wanting (sorta steampunk kinda not) so its hard.

The seating chart is driving me nuts!!!! Having to wait for people to rsvp, tracking them down for an answer, assuming no answer is a “polite no” and then having them say yes🙄 after not including them😂!!
Also, the linens were a bit of a task, I wanted to rent them but they ended up being out of stock so I had to change the colors. Luckily my God Mom is ordering them for me so I get to save money and get the original colors I wanted

I'm a year into planning with a little over a year to go. Honestly the worst part was deciding on colors haha. I literally would like cry about not being able to make a decision. It just kept making me nervous because after you pick colors or a "theme", they're stuck. Like deciding what linens to rent seemed so permanent and what if it looked bad when it was all together?

Hardest part is the guest list for us. We both have very different ideas of who to invite (aka FH wants to invite everyone he's ever met) and neither of us want to budge on how and who to cut.

Finding an affordable venue within the specific perimeters I had was the hardest so far! I probably reached out to nearly 100 venues (but a lot of those were for when we were planning on a fall wedding). We’re getting married in February so I needed something that was entirely inside, could hold 150-175 people, and wasn’t a ballroom (I like ballrooms but that’s wasn’t the feel that I wanted for the wedding). We finally found an amazing place 10 minutes from FH’s hometown (about an hour and a half from where we live & 2 1/2 hours from my hometown)!

    1. Finding the right officiant.

    2. Getting groomsmen to order their suits & book their hotel rooms.

    3. Picking linen colors & flowers.

Hardest part is by far getting addresses from my FMIL. I’ve been on her for 2 months about getting addresses for me. And I’m still waiting on 6 more so I can get my invitations out 🤦🏻‍♀️

I found my DJ at a bridal show and got a discount through that. Have you been to any bridal shows?

Yes I have been to a couple. The ones I talked to were way out of my budget because they're in high demand

Definitely a tie between managing the guest list and planning from across the country!
FMIL just HAD to invite all these family and friends that aren't coming so FH and I couldn't invite all our friends. We invited over 160 and it looks like around 70 will be there 🤦‍♀️
