Hard Time Parting with Wedding Items

Alli, on October 15, 2020 at 5:39 PM Posted in Married Life 0 20
I am keeping my dress, veil, shoes, jewelry, bouquet, wedding umbrella, honeymoon beach hat and towel that says just married.
I sold all of our decor, card box, etc. for really cheap just to get it out of our house.
Is everyone keeping the above items, too? I feel like keeping the dress is highly common...other items? We are moving so might just have to suck it up and have another storage box for all of that stuff 😆

Hi Allissa! So glad I’m not the only one with wedding stuff! I’m keeping my dress and veil and a few other sentimental items. How did you sell your things? I’ve never sold anything on the internet before so I am at a loss on how to start.

I kept the dress, veil, shoes, and the earrings I wore as those belonged to my grandmother. My mom works as a jewelery wholesaler, so I borrowed my necklace and bracelet lol. We left for the honeymoon 2 days after the wedding, so I didn't have enough time to even think about what to do with bouquet (real flowers) so I took a lot of pictures on my phone (along with the professional ones) and then threw it out.

    Yes! 😊
So, I recently figured out Facebook marketplace and listed items on there...! Other than that, not sure how to sell. 🤍

I plan to keep my dress, shoes, and jewelry. Everything else decorative will probably be rentals. With real flowers donated to a funeral home afterward.

You can sell items on Craigslist in your area and OfferUp/Letgo apps.

I already have plans to buy a glass cabinet to display my dress and everything from the wedding 🤣

I am no hoarder, but I have a box full of my 3 kids “baby’s 1st items” 🤪

Doing the same thing! I'm keeping all my sentimental items from our wedding similar to you, dress, veil (my grandmother's), my jewelry, shoes, husband's boutonniere, our invitations, etc... And then selling all the decor items on Facebook Marketplace.

We've kept a lot of stuff, though not for lack of trying to get rid of things.
I had offered the fake flowers and some other types of supplies to both theatres and people associated with schools, and never heard back... and now everything is shut down.

Beginning to wonder if I shouldn't just pop some stuff in a box and label it "free" and put it outside!

We kept one of the lanterns we used for decor, as well as the silk flowers, my bouquet, and our glasses. The other lanterns we gave away. I am going to give my dress to any bride affected by the fires in my area so she still has a dress and won't have to spend more money. No leads yet, but that's the plan.
