Handwriting place cards? Labels? Help!

Kim, on July 14, 2017 at 9:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday night! FH is out with some co-workers so I'm trying to work on some wedding stuff. FH collects coasters every time we go to a bar so I wanted to incorporate them in our wedding. I got these cheap coasters to use as place cards but now I can't figure out what to do with them. The original plan was to hand write all the names and table numbers but honestly, I'm not liking how it looks (I'll post a picture in comments, I'm on mobile.) I was using a silver sharpie but it was too thick and now this pen is too thin. Any ideas how I can get the names and table numbers on the coasters? Should I print on labels and then stick on the coaster? Any ideas? Thank you!

I see your idea here. I think it would look nice with a thicker pen. Sharpie makes a thin silver marker that might work!

Can you write neatly in cursive? Since you have a very plain font for your names, the contrast might look nice! I'm not sure I'd like the look of labels though (even the clear ones). You also run the risk of the ink smearing or labels tearing when the coaster gets wet from condensation on glasses.

Maybe try with a metallic brush pen? And practice first to get the right look. There are youtube and online calligraphy tutorials for using those brush pens to make it look professional.

    Or print on clear labels.

I can't write well in cursive anymore Smiley sad I think a thicker pen will help but I'm doubting myself now to handwrite out 150 of these and have them look nice.

Can you find a friend with nice handwriting to help. I am driving to see my friend in a few weekends and she will write all the names. I will get her a good gift to say thank you. She is also a bridesmaid.

My aunt helped me write out all the invitations, she has really nice handwriting. I'm contemplating asking her or possibly even calling a calligrapher, cause I hate to ask her again. There are so many little details of the wedding I don't care about but I wanna get this one right! My FH loves the idea and I want it to be done well for him

Cute idea!! I have an entire canister of coasters and brought them out the other day to "do something" with them. My FH does the same thing!!! Must be a guy thing. Your idea to use as a place card is cute. Maybe use them in your centerpiece instead?

Do any of your friends or family own a cricut? I'm doing coasters as well and am cutting out the names in vinyl with the cricut. It's turning out even better than I had expected!

A circuit or silhouette would be pretty handy to have. I'm planning on using my silhouette for things like this and it'll be a good way to save some extra dollars.
