Handwriting Addresses on Save the Dates?

FutureMrsMartin, on January 22, 2016 at 9:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38

Did you ladies hand write addresses on your the save the dates and invitations? or did you have labels made, or printed right on the envelope? I just don't want them to look tacky but I want to save money everywhere I can! Might be a dumb question, but I just want to see what everyone else has done. Thanks!

I printed mine right on the envelope. It was kind of tricky with small envelopes, but I thought it looked better than printing labels and I wasn't about to hand write all of them.

I like the mailing addresses printed directly on the envelope or handwritten. We're using a stamp for our return address. I don't like the look of most labels, looks more like business mail :-/

I'm doing labels on my save the dates because my envelopes are too small and my printer won't print on them. It's not ideal but frankly the envelope goes right in the trash.

I am personally handwriting but I would agree with Sunni, I don't like labels.

I don't care for the labels. I love the idea of hiring someone to do calligraphy but it's so expensive. If you have nice handwriting or know someone who does go for it! I was thinking of trying to teach myself how to do calligraphy for mine and just buy the special pens for it or even find tutorials online to save money since I love the look so much!

Or print them! That's also an option, I'm not sure how to do that myself but if you can figure it out that would be great in terms of saving money.

I've been studying calligraphy to hand do them! 100 down, 50 to go!

I hand wrote the addresses on my save-the-dates. For my invitations, the addresses were printed on the envelopes when I ordered them.

Calligraphy is just too beautiful for me to pass up! Luckily FH's uncle is amazing at it and will be doing it for us.

@amanda how's it turning out? Is there a specific website or video you are using to learn it?

For STDs, I used clear labels. For invites, I paid the extra money to get the place I ordered the invites from (invitations by Dawn) to print on the envelopes. We have a few address changes, so those we will just print ourselves.

For our STDs we hand wrote them. But if you don't have time you could just do labels and use a cursive font. The envelope is going to go in the trash anyway!

Thank you so much for all of the responses! They all helped a lot! I think I'm just going to get a calligraphy pen and write them myself since I have decent handwriting! Thanks again ladies Smiley smile

If you decide not to do your own calligraphy, I downloaded a calligraphy font and printed directly on the envelopes from my printer. I wasn't very good at calligraphy.

I hand wrote the save the dates and had a stamp for the return address. It wasn't too bad. Definitely buy extra envelopes though. For invites, I found an affordable calligrapher on etsy. I ordered the envelopes with the return address for the mailing and rsvp envelopes. So the calligrapher just has to write the addresses.

I used clear labels for STDs, not ideal but I didn't care too much about the STD. For our invitations we printed s nice calligraphy font in light gray and traced with calligraphy pen over it. It looks awesome, I'm so proud of them. And it was fun to do!

Printed directly on the envelopes for me!

ETA- I had the bright idea to learn calligraphy and do it myself, but then I realized it's really fucking hard and printed a calligraphy don't instead lol

I'm doing labels on invitations. Not ideal but I'm over worrying about it.
