I'm thinking of keeping my 4 year old daughter home from school for the remainder of the week.

Her Preschool sent a paper home yesterday from school warning that a child at the school is showing symptoms of hand foot mouth. Then I noticed today that it's her BFF has it. She has sores all around her mouth.

My FH somehow caught hand foot mouth a few years ago and was miserable for 10 days with blisters everywhere.

Our wedding is 15 days away and I don't want to risk my daughter catching it.

Am I being crazy for wanting to keep her home?? Fyi-its a private preschool that we pay for and they don't take attendance.

I called her pediatrician, waiting for the Dr to call me back.

Meanwhile, I'm disinfecting every surface in home just in case.

Call her doctor. She may already have been exposed?

Definitely keep her home. I work in a daycare, and it ran rampant through our room.

If the kid has already shown symptoms, everyone in contact with that child has already been exposed. I would keep her home to be safe but she more than likely already been exposed.

Keep her home. Attendance at preschool doesn't mean anything. You can color and read with her and do numbers while she's home.

Not to be Debby downer, but she could very easily have gotten it already. Plus that stuff is SO contagious and it will likely (unfortunately) be going around her preschool for awhile. I used to work with kids in classrooms and it would sometimes take us weeks to get out of the stupid cycle of that going around (we deep cleaned EVERYTHING multiple times and it still was being passed around). It's easy to say you'll pull her out for a day or two, but what if it keeps going around for the next few weeks? If you're able to do that with your schedule I think that's a great option.

I'd keep her home wedding or not. But this is really a question for your pediatrician. Not strangers

I would keep her home. It's very contagious. I got it like 4 or 5 years ago from my 6 year old sister and it sucked.

Absolutely keep her home. any kid that even shows a risk of having that should NOT be attending a place where other kids are. it is so contagious!
