Justin and I are having a Halloween wedding next Halloween in Amite City, LA at the Blythewood Plantation. Our wedding theme is Victorian gothic Interview With The Vampire. I have a vision of what I want our wedding and reception to look and feel like. Justin and I have talked about our wedding and reception and we've talked about we want our wedding guests to feel while they enter our wedding and reception venue. Conveniently enough, our wedding and reception are both going to be held at Blythewood. We're going to have what the staff at Blythewood Plantation, which just so happens to be a very nice Bed and Breakfast, a "weekend wedding". I'd love to give our wedding and reception a bit of a Halloween vibe without making everything feel cheesy or overdone. There will be some children, though I'm not exactly sure how many at the moment, who will be attending the wedding with their parents. Since I'm trying be considerate and to include everybody in the festivities, I was thinking along the lines of putting out bowls of candy, having tables set up for the kids with Halloween theme coloring pages and a few other Halloween activities that are geared toward children as well as adults. Does anybody have any ideas as to how I may be able to do this?

So are we. Religion will not be allowed in the ceremony mostly because neither of us are religious despite our upbringings. However we are going to be doing a handfasting.

I've been debating on a unity candle set or the unity sand thing. I've yet to talk to Justin about what his opinion is. I would prefer for there not to be anything religious in our ceremony.

We are doing sand in our favorite colors just to reiterate the two becoming one. Our handfasting is to acknowledge our Irish heritage.

We’re using black lace and black candelabras on the tables. Our wedding cake will have elements of Halloween (bats, ravens, spiders) hidden in the scroll/lace design. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I’m so glad FH is allowing me to do this for the wedding. I think the candy bar would be a great idea for kids and adults.

I am also having a halloween wedding and Monster Mash is a must play song. I'm doing birdcages with halloween themes (pumpkins, bats, skeletons, etc.) I'm also doing a candy bar. I'm doing a ring toss game i found on Pinterest

Hello! Another Halloween bride here. In regards to entertaining the little ones, I was looking into hiring a magician to do a show for kids to keep them entertained. Try gigsalad.com for some quotes to see if it fits in your budget.

Hello! Fellow Halloween wedding planner here! My FH and I are basically the real life versions of Morticia & Gomez Addams, so our first thought (before we were even engaged, honestly) was for a Halloween themed wedding. There will be no religion involved in our wedding, as we're both Agnostic Atheists with a few Norse Pagan-ish and Buddhist beliefs thrown in (we both come from big, long time Catholic families--so this will be an interesting adventure). Anyhow, we are planning on the candy table--great idea--with a slight trick-or-treat twist in place of the traditional Pittsburgh tradition of the "cookie table". We have 20 tables with different themes related to Halloween/pop-culture that is Halloween themed or occurs on Halloween. We want to have an apple-cider bar, something fitting for the time of year, we felt. Our colors are eggplant, burnt orange, black, and a little bit of white (just because it is a wedding and people will expect it), and our metal accents are all copper. We went with halloween-y colors to help push the vibe along.

We aren't having kids at our wedding (me and FH are not fans, and there will be alcohol and we don't want people to feel uncomfortable drinking around them as we have many relatives who are school teachers), but if we were, I'd suggest painting pumpkins (have seen this on pinterest), maybe bobbing for apples (?), coloring pages are great for adults and kids alike (who doesn't like to color), or even decorating masks (since they are associated with Halloween)--either paper or the little ones you can get from craft stores. Could be fun to have them decorate them and wear them throughout the reception.

We plan on throwing in a few "Halloween-y" songs like "Thriller" and "Monster Mash", etc, etc, into the rest of our music.

We are planning on doing a more traditional feeling ceremony (just without the religion), to help ease the feelings of our families religious natures. For or processional music, we plan on using the theme from "Young Frankenstein", to help pull in the "Halloween" feel even more, and because it is one of our absolute favorite movies.

Congratulations on your engagement! The best of luck to you both!

My fiance and I are getting married October this year (2019) and have decided to do a masquerade theme (with the idea of the aesthetic being elegantly eerie), so, lots of play on shadows and light. We also have a lot of friends and family with kiddos and have decided to have a mask making section for them, to keep mess down we have double sided tape (not, I repeat NOT, glue) self stick gems, ribbon and trim, metallic markers and such that way they get to have some creative fun. For older kiddos we have a photo scavenger hunt for them, and have a portable photo printer and scrapbook for them to take pictures and save them for us.
