Are you asking that, in a guest's point of view, what would we expect to see at your reception as far as decorations, food, etc.?

Pumpkin flavored anything would be my expectation. Fall foods or finger foods.

For decor I would imagine candelabras. I absolutely love Halloween and I love what you are doing. For a less haunted feel maybe cute little pumpkins.

I think black suit, orange shirt, black tie would look better. BM dresses, black and orange again. Skip the green, no one wants to look like a pumpkin.

Are you going for a spooky/creepy/Addams Family look for your decorations? Or something else? I prefer vintage-style Halloween decorations in general, personally. Pinterest might have good ideas for you to keep it classy.

Not something I'd do, but that sounds really fun as a guest!

You'll probably get some mixed feedback on this but honestly I love halloween and I think going to a halloween inspired wedding would be kick ass (minus the costume part but thats just not my cup of tea). I personally prefer the dark haunted decor vs the bright green/orange that is typically associated with halloween. If you type if "goth wedding" on pinterest that is the type of decor I would like to see at a halloween wedding. Dark colors with lots of glamours black glitter pieces.

If the wedding party is in black, orange and green, I think as a guest I would be prepared for almost anything in terms of food and decor.

Sorry, OP, I read your original post wrong so I was just making sure I properly understood before offering feedback!

As far as food, decor, etc., I'm going to go ahead and echo those before me and say that Pinterest is probably your best bet. Halloween theme is awesome to me, and honestly I think it'll come out great, just as long as you don't make your wedding party look too crazy. But to each their own.

As for food, I'd expect typical wedding food I guess. Red meat, white meat, fish, vegetarian options. I don't really consider specific foods to be Halloween-y unless you're going for the gross out factor with making them look like spooky creepy things (please don't do that). Also, please don't force a costume party upon people. FH and I don't dress up for costume parties more than the Jim Halpert-level dress up and would feel so awkward if we were expected to dress up like this for a wedding. You don't want to make your guests uncomfortable.

@LillyBean17, I like your suggestions. I agree, no green.

I would say, decor-wise, keep it simple. Less is more, when it comes to some themes. Perhaps black table cloths with orange napkins. Candle centerpieces with some type of Halloween item (such as a bat, rat or cat). Again, DO NOT overdue it. (the photo below is a display that I did, but this could be an example of not going overboard. Simple.)

As far as for goes, you can do whatever foods you would for any other reception. Do NOT cutesy it up my doing "fingers" and such. Go with fall foods.

Oh, as for costumes....IF you decide to do this, make sure that your invitations make it very clear that costumes are optional. There are many people who either do not like to dress up in a costume, cannot afford a costume, or have no clue how to put a costume together.

I agree @Kathy about the food. Do not do fingers, brains, blood dripping everywhere, etc type foods. You don't want to gross out your guests. Fall foods such as caramel corn, apples, pumpkin bread, etc are all good examples.

Dinner typical wedding food, but you can have fall themed, pumpkin soup, apple stuffed chicken. Maybe light fog under things for a mood. Purple is also a big Halloween color.

Favors can be candy in trick or treat bags with you names on them. Pumpkins for centerpieces. Maybe offer masks, boas, capes to add to their outfits when people walk in instead of costumes. Finding a non overly sexy costume is hard for women, your guests might stress. I know I would to the point I might not attend.

You can deff do a Halloween theme with out doing things so overtly like orange and green BM dresses .... please don't make them dress in those colors ... maybe you can narrow your Halloween theme ... so it isn't all over the place ... like maybe a haunted Victorian party ... that way it is spooky but classy at the same time ...

I think dark purple would look awesome for bridesmaid dresses. Do more purple and black with orange accents.

I wouldn't have my guests dress in a costume for my wedding. I think, for me, that I would still like to have that wedding feel and costume parties don't scream wedding to me. I find it to be very kiddie party-ish instead. If you're going to go this route, I reiterate what other PPs have said, less is more. I like the gothic vintage look over the orange and green.

As far as food, I'd still do a regular meal. No mummy shaped meat loaf lol.

I wouldn't go orange and green. Either black and orange, or black and purple would keep it in theme without being too costumey.

Lots of candles and pumpkins for decor
