Hair That Won't Curl

Opalite, on October 14, 2017 at 8:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

I have a lifelong friend who is a professional MUA and hair artist. She will be doing my hair & makeup for the big day (with a contract of course). I am so happy that she is doing it, because she knows more about my hair and skin than even I do! My hair DOES NOT hold a curl and is always straight, so this is the style that we came up with. My hair & makeup might look simple and understated to some, but I rarely wear makeup or do anything with my hair so for me, it is natural but still a littke glam. Anybody else skipping an up do?

ETA: For my high school prom, to gwt my hair to curl, this same friend had to put my hair in tiny little pincurls all over my head, spray half a can of hair spray on it, let it sit for an hour and still the curls fell out by the end of the night! So we both agreed to stay away from the curls.

Your hair looks great! If it was me I would go heavier on the makeup, if anything for the pictures!

Forgot to add that suggestions are welcome. I will definitely do a less bold lip.

I'm looking to do a style similar to yours. My hair won't curl, either. Hell, my hair is so fine and straight my mom tried to perm my hair TWICE (ahh... the 80's) and both fell out within a week.

Additionally, since my hair is so fine, I need an updo or low bun/chingon to mask oil. My hair gets really oily really fast, and I intend to dance my shoes off!

I think it looks beautiful! I love the comb/pin you've chosen! I agree with @Brooke A, I don't think the lip is too bold. I think it really completes the look and it makes for a good picture.

Thanks all! Appreciate the advice. I might ask her to go a little heavier on the eye makeup. Fun fact, the hair piece was actually a tiara...my mom bought it for me when I bought my dress, and I didnt realize it was a tiara. I thought it was just a headband! I am definitely not a tiara person so we bent the ends in and it makes a perfect hair piece!

    You're beautiful!

My hair doesn't hold heat curls, either. The only way I get any texture is with those bendable foam curlers (that are put in wet and left in for 8+ hours). Your hair looks great, just a suggestion for if you really want curls!

My hair will NOT hold any curl other than one put in by a curling wand, so I hear ya. And I burn the shit out of my fingers using the wand which is why I rarely bother...

Anyway, I love the updo and makeup. Will you have a veil and switch to the clip, or clip all night? Just curious because I'm doing a similar updo and will have a veil for the ceremony.

I have a veil that I think I can just wear over the clip. Thanks for the suggestion about the brows...my friend scolded me because I overplucked them in the middle! They have grown in properly now so I will make sure to shape them nicely soon.

Hair looks amazing. For the makeup- I think too much blush, not enough eyeshadow. Lips look good.

That hair style is a beautiful alternative to curling! I don't think it will look too simple at all! I also love the makeup and don't think the lip is too bold by any means. I would suggest maybe shaping up the eyebrows a bit. But besides that - gorgeous!

Thank you all!! Does anybody have a resource for a good brow shaping tutorial? I use retin-A so I can't wax, or it will scab, so I tweeze them myself...but clearly I need some guidance!
