Hair: Down for the ceremony and up for reception??

Grace, on December 8, 2017 at 12:53 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16

Any ideas on hairstyles that can be easily pinned/gathered up by yourself for the reception? I'd love to have my hair down for the ceremony and put it up for the reception without it looking like I did it myself

I would think it'd be easier to go the other way (up to down). Personally, I wouldn't do this unless I had a hairdresser there.

I agree it'd be easier to do it the other way, but I don't want my hair down for the reception and get too hot - I have a lot of hair!

I would be bummed to miss out on cocktail hour because of a hair style change...

I'm not going to be at cocktail hour anyways since we're not doing first look pictures. I have my trial next week so I can bring it up then. Just was looking for some ideas to show her!

I have quite long and thick hair. It's fine but there's a LOT of it. I'm decent at doing my own hair but I definitely don't want the pressure of doing a super fancy updo by myself. I probably will have a half up/half down with messy/loose curls if that gives any help

I'll keep it down for photos during cocktail hour, but it shouldn't take the entire time for the photos. I was hoping for a five minute fix to do my hair up

I want to do this same thing. Half up for ceremony, completely up for reception for comfort! I'm planning on doing a French braid with my head upside down and pin the remainder into the existing up portion/put it in a bun. I'll see if I can find a picture of what I mean, I've only ever done it myself haha

You expect to do an updo in 5 min without the assistance of a professional?

    That's risky IMO

I was just thinking of doing this if possible. I was going to go half up for the ceremony and pictures, then just pin the rest up (or just our of the way) for the reception

While I LOVE the concept.. I would not attempt without a professional in tow.

This is what I was referring to. I'll have a pro do the half up hairstyle, and I've done the braid plenty of times, so that's honestly easy for me, but I would definitely not try it without knowing you're comfortable doing it or have your pro still there.

Does anyone know of any hair gadgets that make a quick updo easy? I'm not looking for anything fancy. I could even do just a jazzed up ponytail

@Mary That's a really cool updo! I don't know if I'd feel comfortable doing that since I won't still have my HMUA. Love it though!

Scroll through Ulyana Aster's Instagram account. She has tons of bridal hair video tutorials. Some are over the top and tricky, but she also has some super simple ones too.

Fair enough! Like I said, no way I'd attempt it if I wasn't comfortable with it! I agree with PP to try singe stuff after your trial
