Hi all! I know for a fact that I'm going to have several guests with dietary needs. I have a few diabetics, one person with kidney failure, a BM who's allergic to EVERYTHING, and a few vegetarians/vegans. I'm sure that there are several others that I don't know about (like people with food allergies) but that will need special dietary considerations.

My caterer already told me that this happens all the time, and that I can tell the chef exactly what to make for the people who need food other than what's on the menu. At first I thought I'd call the people I knew would need it and ask them what they'd like to have, but then FH pointed out that there might be guests with food needs that I'm not aware of.

Any suggestions to find this out? Obviously I can't call every single person on my guest list. Has anyone run into a problem with this at their wedding?

We put it right on the wedding website to contact us if there was any special dietary needs. We had the basics covered with what we knew which was no peanuts no fish and we had a gluten-free option also.

Personally, I think that its the guests responsibility to notify the host of any dietary needs. My husband is allergic to dairy so we take it upon ourselves to let someone know that.

We've got at least 2 diabetics, 1 gluten allergy & quite a few milk sensitivities (incl myself, FH, our son & my mother--who is also on a salt-free diet) & FMIL is allergic to raspberry & peppermint, so lots to consider. Ultimately we made the call to accommodate as many as possible, let our guests know ingredients & let them decide what they can handle. We definitely needed gluten-free cupcakes...FH's poor grandma misses out on cake for every birthday Smiley sad

There was no way I wasn't getting cake at my own wedding so I'm baking a gluten free vegan (& soy free too) cake with my Mom and FMIL for cutting in the days before the wedding. Everyone without allergies will have 3 different cupcake flavor options from our caterer.

Gluten free cupcakes are an awesome idea - I didn't even think of that. One of my BMs has Crohn's (forgot to mention it before) and I'll have to do that for her!
