Guests meal choices

Amanda P, on November 29, 2011 at 7:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Are you doing anything in case your guests forget what meal they chose? Like listing it somewhere at the venue or on the escort card somewhere?

I hate giving guests choices in the invites. The guys won't choose; their wives/girlfriends/ partners will pick for them and they won't remember choosing anything cause they didn't.

The best thing to do is to make a list of who gets what and 'code' their table cards so that the waitstaff knows which guest gets what thing. I'd talk to your banquet director about this; they've done it before.

Plan B? Everyone gets a duet entree with a little beef and a little fish. Most venues will have vegetarian entrees handy too. It makes the service faster, it seems more special, and it won't cost you any more (or it shouldn't)

We are only offering one option since no one has any special dietary needs. It makes things ten times easier. We will have one passed appetizer, a salad, a main entree and 3 sides to go with it.

We're having stations... so this isn't an issue. However I went to a wedding recently where the back of our place card had a clear label on it that was printed with a code indicating which meal we chose. The servers came around and discretely looked at everyone's place cards. I thought it was very clever.

I'm thinking of adding a code on their escort cards.

We were lucky. Because our reception after the ceremony was in a restaurant, they allowed guests to choose right at the table what they wanted.

I like the idea of a reception menu. This way people arent wondering how long their meals have been sitting or if precooked. And this opens it up for people who if they were feeling like having fish when they rsvpd in december now want steak in may.

That's a good question....I might need to figure out a way to include it on the escort cards. I went to a wedding recently where people obviously didn't remember what they ordered and took the "higher end option" (the steak) when it was offered at their table, so by the time they got to our table several people didn't get what they wanted because the kitchen was out. The Bride got wind of this and the kitchen ended up preparing extras so everyone got what they wanted. I don't know if she had to pay extra for this though.

My mom wants me to offer like 4 options (chicken beef, fish and vegetarian) and I think that's a headache....we'll see what we decide after the tasting.

If you word the rsvp this way, you will know who wants what, then you can mark it on their escort cards.

We look forward to celebrating with you!

Please respond by May 10, 2012

We have reserved ____ seats in your honor

    __Accepts with pleasure

    __Must decline with regret

    Name ___________________

chicken / beef / vegetarian (circle one)

    Name ___________________

chicken / beef / vegetarian (circle one)

    Adult only reception

Either make a card with 2 different color accents (pink rhinestone/bow/design = beef & yellow = chicken) So the servers know who gets what.... or put little symbols on the escort cards.

website with templates if you want to print yourself...
