I am starting to get a timeline for the day of the wedding and I had it suggested to me by my caterer and a few others (other brides who have done it this way) to have the guests eat before the bridal party arrives. For instance, the ceremony will start at 3:30 and then the reception will begin at 5 with the food beginning at that time as well. Its buffet style and with the amount of people coming to the reception the caterer thinks this may be the best way to go. This will also give more time for pictures in between the ceremony and reception instead of bolting over to the reception hall. I have been to numerous weddings lately where the bridal party doesnt show up until super late and they say the reception starts at 6 and we didnt eat until 7:45. Not gonna lie, i get ticked off when that happens. So my question is this; 1.) Do you like this idea? Pros, cons?2.) If we decide to do it this way, most of the guests will be done eating or just finishing up eating when we all arrive.con't

We're doing photos before the ceremony to avoid this issue (and we are doing table visits during the meal).

I think it might be weird as a guest to eat without the bride and groom, but it's definitely preferable to being forced to wait.

I think your caterer is suggesting this because in the past the B&G have been really late from taking pics, food got cold, guests got hangry, and they had to pay their staff overtime.
