Guest List Help

DeLarrah, on July 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 26
Hey! Is there an application or smooth process of creating a list and keeping address for people you plan to invite to the wedding? I’m sure I could use excel. But just saying what everyone else used or is using!

Thanks Smiley smile

You could use the guest list function here on WW.

I used google sheets since it would be more portable for me across devices. But I'm sure there are more out there.

I’m also using google sheets, but I’ve uploaded into the knot too because that’s where our wedding website is and we’ll allow people to RSVP online.

I wrote down all the names of people we wanted to invite (I wrote them how I would be mailing them out. Then underneath their names I added their addresses. I left the ones that I didn't know blank until I asked for them. I just made a word document.

    For example:

    Mr. & Mrs. John Smith

123 Main Ave Albany NY 12205

Then I made it even easier for my MOH and BM for my bridal shower and added the ladies names in parenthesis. This way they knew the ladies names from the bridal shower invites.

    For example, using example above:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith (Jessica)

123 Main Ave Albany NY 12205

I used Google sheets because then I shared it with FH and he was able to easily add addresses from his side of the family

I just used Word (and I still use the list from the wedding (with some minimal updates) for our Christmas card list lol)

I just used excel and the guest list on here. Excel to keep up with addresses and guest list here so people can RSVP on the website. Excel is easy because you can export the list if you need to make labels, send to minted.com, etc.

I used the guest list on here, but other wedding websites have them too (the knot, minted, etc.). On here they also have a seating chart, so once you have your RSVPs you can just drag them around. On minted you can upload your guest list and they will custom print all your envelopes, plus they have an "address collection" thing you can text to everyone. Basically they all have different advantages. Once you make a list on one website, you should be able to export it to excel (or start with excel) and use it on others! I've been bouncing around trying out the different features, if you couldn't tell.

We used Minted because that’s where we were getting our invitations from.

I’ve been using google sheets and it has worked so well. I love it because I have different tabs for different things and can easily copy and paste from one to the other. My different tabs were long list, real list, rehearsal dinner, shower, and seating chart. The “real list” was my actual guest list, and on that I had a bunch of columns to keep track of everything: name, address, std sent, invite sent, rsvp, number attending, gift, and thank you sent. So far it has worked really well, and the nice thing with google sheets is I can share it with my fiancé and then export things in excel when I need to send a particular list to someone else.

I went old school. I wrote down the names and addresses. Then when I sent out invites I put a number next to their name and on the bottom of the RSVP card they send back. So if they didn’t put their name(because half the people didn’t even though there was a space provided) I knew exactly who they were. Then after I put their name down on a separate paper as a “yes” or no and who was going. I’m usually not on a computer much. It was easier for me to visualize who was coming

I started my list on here. The company that printed my invitations needed a list of people with addresses (they printed return addresses on the envelopes) so I just expanded on that list in Google Drive. Its been working pretty smoothly so far.

I used google sheets. I'm trying to choose an online RSVP platform, so I'll be putting them in there as well.

I'm using Google sheets. Not sure if sheets will mail merge to make the labels, but I know excel will. If you are going to do that just make sure you set it up right. I'm pretty sure street, town, state, zip all have to be in a different cell across the row.

So far were just using the guest list on here. I was able to have my FH make an account so he could easily add his family without having to write it down then me put it in the app.
That way when it gets closer to sending out save the dates and everything its all in front of us and you can put everyone in categories based on who you're inviting to what. I'm sure other forms work just as well too, but this so far seems to be a good option

I've been using Aisle Planner for all my guests! It's a great way to track the addresses and select who's invited to which event (bridal shower, engagement party, wedding reception, etc). It also allows you to categorize the guests (work, family, etc) and you can A list or B list guests.
