Guest list help!

Rebecca, on October 27, 2019 at 10:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 50
How did everyone start making their guest list? What did they use whether writing it down, typing it up, etc.?!
Also, how do you keep it organized?! I’m so overwhelmed!

We used an excel spreadsheet with names, addresses, and number of people per household. Once invitations went out, we added columns for RSVP, gifts, and whether or not we sent out thank you’s.

I also do google drive, that way you can share it with whoever you’d like. I split the guest list to be my side and his, then broke it down to immediate family, extended, friends and coworkers. Also anyone our parents wanted invited like their close friends or neighbors.

We are using Google Sheets so that we can both make edits and access it anywhere when needed. We have separate tabs for guest list, budget, timeline, vendors, menu, payments, notes, etc.

I started our guest list by diving it up-my family, his family, my friends, and his friends and went from there

I used excel and kept track of everything on there. I had a sheet for everything and it kept me very organized.

I used an excel spreadsheet initially, but I honestly love pen & paper. Once we narrowed it down, we used the WeddingWire guest list.

I started with pencil and paper (easy to make changes and like having the hard copy in front of me). Once our list was somewhat finalized, I listed names and addresses in a word document ( our invitation calligrapher wouldn’t take a spreadsheet). Making a guest list is a hard task. Our venue limits you to 160 people so we had a max number. FH and I saw down separately and drafted our list for our own side. We came together and made revisions etc. you will revise the list multiple times I promise you 🤣

I used the guest list feature on wedding wire. It helped me make three lists at once (rehearsals, shower, wedding) and it has pre sorted groups.

I have mine on a excel spreadsheet. This has enabled me to keep track of guest and rsvps

We did this. If you're not great with excel you can Google for a template. There are a bunch out there.

I first wrote it down by pen and paper. I wanted to get all names out. I then converted it to a word doc for numbering and organization. I used a chart to pair couples together. Then, I finally used an excel spreadsheet once the numbers were final and so I can have all addresses etc. on one document.

We wrote it out by hand. I had my FH write down his family he wanted to invite, I did my family, he did his friends, i did my friends + later on we just combined them to total them up

I made a chart in Word for my Seating Chart (meaning placing people at Tables) and used that for my Invite list.

Then, I removed names as the no’s arrived.

I actually really like the guest list option here on WW. It has options where you can click who "connected guests" are (husband and wife, etc) and click whether people are invited to just the wedding or the rehearsal and shower as well. It categorizes them by friends/family of bride/groom, etc. There's meal options and stuff as well and I think email and address options too. (I haven't gotten that far). I think we are using zola or rsvpify for online rsvp since that has the best reviews I've seen, but this is working well for me so far since most of my planning has been on WW.

I use Google drive too, Google documents and sheets. You can open them and work in different devices and you can share them with your fiance so he can add his guests while you do the same.

My FH wanted to hand write it all out, so we did. But eventually it’ll need to go on an excel spreadsheet for sure! In terms of who was on that guest list: we started with family first, then close friends, co-workers, & lastly anyone else we thought of. Happy wedding planning to you! 😊💕
