So my FH and I are wanting to keep our wedding pretty small. I’ve made a guest list with all of our family members, the one’s that are a part of our lives, and I’ve added some of our close friends. My future MIL made a comment about needing to add some distant cousins to the guest list. She hasn’t yet, but it really frustrates me because we’re keeping the wedding small for budget reasons and she’s not helping us pay for it so I don’t feel she should make adjustments to the guest list. Anyone else?

Have your FH tell her no. Not your mom, not your problem.

I would definitely tell have your fiance tell her no. If he won't, then you tell her. Sometimes you have to be firm with people to get the point across.

Agreed. I'd also have him add (if you're ok with it) that if she wants more distant relatives invited, she'll have to pitch in to cover their costs.

My FHs grandmother is like that. She kept trying to say we had to add people (her friends that we really dont know) and my FH had to keep telling her no. I would talk with your FH about it and say that you dont mind supporting him but he needs to run point.

I agree with pp's. It's best for your FH to discuss this with your mom. Distant family usually isn't offended when they know it's a small wedding. Good luck
