Guest list for engagement party help!

My Fiancé and myself are having a DW and so there are only about 20 people or less attending our actual wedding. When we come back we will have a reception here and show the video of us getting married and party. I am unsure who to invite to the party? I know it’s normally wedding guests, but if we are going to have a reception here do we invite those people to the party? I’m just at a total loss of who to invite! Any advice helps! Thanks!!

Only guests invited to the wedding should be invited to any pre-wedding events.

I invited closest friends and family to the engagement party. I’m also having a DW and at the time I didn’t know if they’ll be making it. Not everyone that went to the EP is now going to the wedding.
So if you have a DW and only invited the 20 guest coming than you should not invite everyone to it but if you invited everyone and only 20 can make it than invite them all.
Everyone would love the oportunity of celebrating with you and your fiancé.

Hey Abby!! I agree with the previous comment! Inviting your closest friends and family to your engagement party is a great idea. These can be people that you will also be inviting to your reception. Some couples choose to keep the engagement party very small and opt for a more intimate guest list. How many people are you inviting to your reception?

There will be roughly 150/175 to our reception. We want a big party as we do not want our family to feel obligated to get gifts when they will be paying to go to Hawaii. We want as many people at the engagement party as possible. We’ve decided to just invite who we want and not listen to the “rules” of inviting who will be at the wedding. Our wedding will be very intimate so we want big parties.

Ok got it!!! I definitely agree with you if your wedding is intimate then go all out for your party!! Hawaii is a great destination!
