Guest List Drama

I got my first "Where is my invitation... what am I not on the list.. if you cared about me then you would have invited me... your wedding was supposed to help me believe in true love" confrontation this morning over a chat platform. From someone that I took a weekend road trip with over 6 years ago...

From someone that I took a weekend road trip with over 6 years ago and we have never hung out for any long period of time since then either alone or with my FH

For realz.*cue eye roll*

Oh I wanted to. Haha. I wanted to be like, "Guess that means we'll put you down as a no" but it's from FH's side so I bit my tongue and let him handle it.

We got our first “can my teenage daughter bring her friend to hang out” question the other night 🙄 it was so annoying.

We we are having no kids, the youngest will be my 2 first cousins who are 16 & 19, we included everyone’s significant other, but otherwise did not give plus ones for single guests. FH and I also agreed that if a guest we thought was single was actually in a relationship and they asked, we would include them but not include random friends to just hang out.

So so annoying when my aunt texted me asking about the 16 year olds friend (clarified this was NOT a significant other). Like no. Sorry, you’re old enough to not need entertainment like that, and it’s $200/person. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I am so tired of the "Am I invited? Where's my invite? Don't you like me anymore?" blah blah blah crap. I have finally just started telling people "Its our wedding and we are inviting those we want to have there. If you feel you need to be invited you can feel free to contribute to the cost of the wedding." It's probably rude, but at this point I stopped caring. Obviously people don't care about our feelings so I'm not going to bend over backwards to care about theirs. It is the one and only wedding I am going to have and I refuse to spend the day with people just because they are my great aunt twice removed on my fathers side that came to that funeral 11 years ago and said hello...If I haven't seen them or talked to them in the last 6 months they don't register as a person I need at my wedding. I refuse to be bullied into inviting people just so they don't have hurt feelings.
