Guest Book Alternative Idea

Sara, on September 6, 2018 at 9:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Hey guys!

Our wedding is a rustic theme. We kept tossing around ideas for a guest book, and finally came up with something unique. We were thinking of having a wood bench (smaller in size) that everyone could sign. This way, we could have it in our house somewhere and make some use out of it.

Has anyone done this before? If not, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Sara!

My aunt offered to make us a quilt with a lot of white or light color tiles that people will sign. This way we can keep it forever and use it in the house. It's definitely an unique option and would be perfect for a rustic wedding!

    Good luck!

Was it fairly easy to sign your name and everything? As a guest, did you think it was manageable? lol.

I got a long tree slab at hobby lobby (used to 40% coupon)
I'm planning to wood burn our initials on the bottom and then let the guests sign with a sharpie or something. Then I'll seal it & use it as decor in my house lol!

We wanted to do something that would be useful and worth the money, ya know? What's the use of having something like a photo book or whatever if we're rarely going to look at it?

That's why I didnt want a book lol! And frankly, my husband was adamant he did not want peoples signatures hanging as a frame in pur house, but he really like the tree slab. 💁 have you considered the little hearts people sign and drop into a glass shadow picture frame?

I have! I'm not sure if we want to do that or not. My biggest fear is people writing super big or being immature with what they write, etc. Probably dumb things to worry about, but it's hard not to worry about that haha - especially if it's going to be in our home where we and others will see it LOL.

FH is making us a large rectangle sign out of mahogany with s nice edging and then my daughter is going to paint our initials and wedding date in the center in a heart (like if you carved your name in a tree) and then everyone will sign their names around it. We will hang it in our house as decor.

I had a sign, about 2” by 4” that says and they lived happily ever after...

so im having people sign that!! My parents who have been married for almost 40 years said guest books are useless. But something like that, is neat!

Yes! It can be if you back each square with a sort of paper - I can't remember what kind, but I know it's used in the kitchen and isn't wax paper. Google it Smiley smile

What a cool idea! I considered getting one that was a wooden sign shaped like my home state. We decided to go with a photo guestbook as it ensured we would actually print our engagement photos. I just got it in the mail a few days ago and I love it!

I've been to two weddings where, as a guest, the guest book was hard. If that helps? haha

The thumbprint tree got messy real quick.

And the polaroid picture station got backed up. The line grew soooo long waiting for everyone to take the pictures, shake it and then sign the book.

We're just doing a slab of wood with the death star painted on it saying "til death do us part" haha we're big nerds. I like the ones where you just sign and go.

I like the bench idea, if you have a way for people to write on it that will look nice and not come off. Giant Jenga games are also popular at rustic weddings - you can buy them pretty cheap and then have people write messages or sign the blocks. Then you have a fun game you can keep.

Aww I love this what a great idea! I had found some ideas of having ppl sign a globe or sign a calendar with their birthday but I think I’d rather just have the sweet notes in a regular guest book
