Groupon!

FuturemrsDickinson, on January 8, 2015 at 1:46 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Has anyone purchased anything on groupon? I finally found a groupon for zazzle and I'm wondering if it's actually worth it. I guess I'm just nervous I'm gonna get duped. I'd love to hear what you've purchased and if it's worked out for you?

I have purchased and used countless Groupons! I also love Living Social deals.

I used the Zazzle Groupon for my wedding invitations. There are many to choose from with that deal, and if you want to buy invites not covered under the deal (more expensive ones) they will apply the face value of the Groupon towards that purchase. That's what I did and wound up spending an additional $15. Here are my invites....

Do you use Ebates too? If so, buy your Groupon through that site for 6.5% cash back.

A million things. Mostly restaurant groupons. As long as you use it before it expires I've had no problems!

Groupon is amazing and so is Zazzle. I have ordered invitations and labels from Zazzle 10+ times and I have never been disappointed.

I just purchased my save the dates, invites, and return address labels from Vistaprint using two groupons earlier this week and couldn't be more excited to receive them! Essentially, I got $150 worth of product for only $60 in total cost to me (I paid $23 per groupon and less than $14 in shipping/taxes through Vistaprint). I was amazed that I saved so much money and the templates I ended up choosing are GORGEOUS! ***In other words, I love groupon and have made multiple purchases from that site and have never had a problem with redeeming them Smiley smile

I use both groupon and living social frequently. They have great deals. Just make sure to read the fine print so you aren't surprised by anything. For example I bought the vistaprint groupon but the fine print says that it can't be combined with other offers. It was a great deal still even though it couldn't be combined. I got all of my save the dates with upgraded card stock and custom thank you cards for under $45 including the cost of the groupon.

I've bought a lots of things from groupon. I bought one for vista print to buy my thank you cards. I've bought everything from yoga pants to hotels to menchies vouchers. I actually bought a photobook voucher for our wedding album later.

I love groupon. I have used it for tons of things and found very good value. I recently purchased a boudoir session that I plan to use as my FH's wedding gift. Very excited for that.

I also give a vote for ebates! I do a lot of my shopping online and have received $450 in rebates this year through the site. It made holiday shopping so much better. It is completely legit. To maximize the benefit, use their browser toolbar so you never forget to activate the cash back offers.

You can check it out here and get a $5 bonus by using my referral link to sign up (I get $5 also, for full disclosure):

Ok, I've been thinking about this post for a little while. Businesses list on Groupon in hopes of getting repeat business that doesn't involve Groupon. Why? Groupon takes 50% of the cut you pay. Therefore, a business that lists on Groupon is in a position to take that cut because their prices are s high they can still profit from it. Or, it's a new business that desperately needs to get the word out on their business. Or, the discount is on a "lost leader" to get you to look at their company. A lost leader is a product or service that the company has just to get you in the door. They expect to loose on it in hopes of getting other sales. This is just my opinion. Now, how can this come to your advantage? Some companies that are in the position of being new or just trying to create awareness will deal with you. Call them, tell them you have seen them on Groupon. Ask them if they are willing to give "a little off" the Groupon price if you come directly to them. Meaning, they honor the Groupon Price but you pay them direct. Or, will they take a little more off the Groupon rate if you come direct to them. It's against the Groupon Terms and Agreements for them to do so. But, for what Groupon charges, some will do that for you if they are in the "right" position.
