Gross but.. I need help with my bacne before wedding!

Haley, on August 17, 2013 at 12:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

OK I have always had acne everywhere especially my back. I'm not too concerned about my face because it isn't as bad and can be easily covered up but my back is horrible plus all the scars from it too. Has anyone used anything that worked? I don't want my gross back showing... :/

    Found this online:

    To treat mild back acne:

Step 1 Wash the back with an anti-bacterial cleanser formulated for the face, such asCetaphil. Stay away from regular soap. Let skin dry.

Step 2 Follow with a 10% benzoyl peroxide gel or cream. These are available over-the-counter or via prescription. Check out these options here. Let dry.

Step 3 (optional) Some experts suggest using the benzoyl peroxide in tandem with an alpha hydroxy treatment such asAlpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion is optimal. Check out other options.

For severe back acne, consult a dermatologist for prescription treatment. Cysts can be treated in the office.

I would suggest going to a dermatologist. They can probably get you something more powerful than just something you could pick up at the drug store.

    Found these online:

    An Acne-Fighting Regimen

Anytime you workout, your adrenal glands pump out testosterone, which makes your skin produce more pore-clogging oil.

Keep your back skin clear by treating it the same way you would your face: First, use a salicylic-based acne-clearing regimen to exfoliate skin and kill any bacteria that cause pimples. Then, treat it with a medicated lotion with benzoyl peroxide, and top it with SPF.

    Clarifying Spray

Obviously, the major problem with bacne is that it's hard to reach. The answer: a spray! You can mist on the medicine (this one contains retinol and salicylic acid) from any direction.

    I use these:

    Medicated Pads

Tight-fitting clothes, like your sports bra, trap perspiration, which then mixes with bacteria, dirt, and oil on your skin, triggering a breakout.

The fix: Swipe your back with one of these jumbo pads before you hit the gym to reduce the amount of bacteria on your skin. They're great for all-over acne fighting and contain salicyclic acid to get rid of breakouts, green tea to calm inflammation, and witch hazel to make your skin feel refreshed.

    A Medicated Soap

Whether you realize it or not, the products you put in your hair could be causing back breakouts.

How? The ingredients they contain are designed to cling to your hair, so they may stick to your skin too, eventually plugging up your pores.

To keep your stylers from bringing on blemishes, wash and rinse your hair first, then soap up your body to get rid of any residue. It's also a good idea to get dressed, or put a towel over your back, before applying your hair products.

    I also use this one:

    Body Wash

This body wash does double-duty: It treats zits as it cleanses your skin. So, if you prefer a liquid sudser over bar soap, this one also contains salicylic acid to help prevent breakouts.

Sorry to hear this. Great suggestions above. A dermatologist may be worth it. Also consider drinking more water, taking vitamins, trying to relieve stress, and get some sun exposure (not two hours at midday!)

I would ask your dr about getting Retin A. I got an rx an its amazing stuff. It can be pricey but my insurance covered most of it. I think I paid $5. But start ASAP, it takes a while to work.

I would agree will AllieCat...as an Esthetician I would advise to start with chemical peels...glycolic, salicylic or lactic acid peels can be effective in fading scarring. You also need something to kill the bacteria if it is active acne. A cleanser, toner, and moisturizer with glycolic or salicylic acid would be beneficial. Back facials will help to extract all the bacteria and keep the breakouts at bay. Depending on how deep the scarring is microdermabrasion is beneficial as well as IPL treatments. If you go to your Esthetician she/he will be able to put together a treatment program for you that is customized to your skin type and issue. Hope that helps a bit!

Proactive! My FH had the worst and he has flawless skin. I was skeptical at first but have used it myself when something pops up and within a day or two it is clear again.

Murad spray. My FH had an awful breakout and someone recommended the spray. Within a few days the breakout looked a million times better. I use it when I see or feel zits popping up on my face. The spray scares them away. Smiley smile

I have had this problem since I was 14, the dermatologist suggested Pan-oxyl soap for my back ONLY, to be used in the shower with a brush or loofah. It is like 10% benzoyl peroxide, and while it was only mildly helpful as a teen, it helps lots now that I'm older. Walmart makes a generic one for like $5/ bar, so its cheap too! I use it on my back, chest, and neck.

Epsom salt and a back brush. Do it after you wash out your conditioner. That's what was causing mine.

Someone on here suggested trying Cetaphil soap and lotion before going to a dermatologist, it has helped mine! But (WAY TMI ALERT!) the antibacterial Cetaphil bar soap was causing recurring yeast infections so I had to start BARELY using it- like, rub on my hand then rub my back. Just a warning!
