Groomsmen Gift Proposal idea (no alcohol)

Meagan, on November 23, 2018 at 6:09 PM Posted in Planning 1 28
I am struggling in finding ideas for my fiancé to ask the guys to be his groomsmen and best man. The problem is that he and the guys don’t drink or smoke cigars. Looking for other ideas

I'd let this go and let him figure something out since they're his groomsmen. Personally, I think proposals are too much and put undue pressure on them to say yes when they're not sure and they need time to give it some thought. Once they say yes then if he wants to send his guys something small that's fine but I'd let him figure it out based on what he knows about his friends.

Agreed with previous poster. Just ask! Things have gotten way too over the top with "bridal party proposals" anyways.

My advice is for him just to ask. No gifts or cutesy things necessary.

He doesn't need to do a cutesy proposal. Generally speaking, most men aren't going to care about something like that anyway. Save the gifts for the "thank you" gift closer to the wedding. He can just ask over dinner or whenever he speaks to them next. This should really be up to him though.

Being brutally honest, most guys don't really care about having a gift proposal.

If you want to do something maybe a funny card asking them to be their groomsman or if you really wanted to do gifts maybe cufflinks or something they could wear to the wedding.

Personally I don't think it's necessary but if your fiance wants to do and his groomsman would appreciate it then go for it. Also it's his groomsman he should be doing the thinking about how to do it!

My FH just asked all his guys in person when he say them. Pretty sure one guy he said 'speaking of weddings, will you do the standing thing and all that at our wedding?' Smiley laugh Smiley laugh Smiley laugh super informal and goofy. Which is him.

My FH was in a wedding where the groom did gift bags with homemade cards with funny inside jokes specific to each groomsman. I honestly can't remember what was even in the bag, but we definitely remember the cute card and still have it displayed!

I never knew that it was a thing, to propose to your wedding party. LOL. Being old school, we just asked them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Imo these proposal gifts (bridesmaids and groomsmen) are ridiculous. They stress people out as they try to come up with something, and they put a lot of pressure on people to say "yes" when they might want to say "no". People should just use their words and ask. Have coffee together or a meal and ask. If distance is an issue, call.

Thank you for your opinions ladies. My FH has asked me to help look for ideas because he works two full time jobs right now and its the busy season for golf here in the desert. I wasn't going to make their gift complicated and wanted something simple and sweet for it. I know the guys won't be pressured because they are all family members that will be asked. His older brother has been hinting that he is waiting to know about him choosing people for his groomsmen. When I did it for my girls, I got them coach wristlets on sale that have our wedding color for the wedding day as well. Along with a cute coffee mug and body mist. We just want it to be memorable asking. We have contemplated where they can go out paint balling and he can give them white shirts that say groomsmen and best man or they can go out to dinner or a movie and get a small gift.

Again, I don't want anything crazy lol. Just a simple gesture since its his family and something that could be cool.

    Thank you everyone

Thats awesome. I love the sock idea. I was also thinking that he could maybe give a gift with the item at Christmas. They will be thinking its a regular gift but something would be inside asking them to be his groomsman.

Thats awesome! Its hard to think of ideas based on their personalities because they don't like to go out and drink. Plus, some of them aren't big sports fans hahaSmiley winking

I dont know if you have a old fashioned chocolate shop in your area. But here in Utah we have one called See's Candy and they sell chocolate Cigars. My fiance got these for his groomsmen (2 of them are his brothers and are LDS) They loved it! Some other options are personalized gifts like leather wallets with their names printed on them or something similar.

My FH had no clue what to do, so he asked me to help him. We bought these clear mugs from the dollar store and ordered personalized decals from Etsy. Inside the mugs we put a pair of socks, and cufflinks to be used at the wedding. I ordered the socks from Amazon and the cuff links from Ali Express. The cufflinks came pretty quickly under 2 weeks and are really nice. Each pair represents what each groomsmen likes, for example my nephew's were playstation remotes. It made each gift even more special.

I forgot to mention none of our guys are drinkers either, so they use the mugs for water. 😊

My fiancé literally sent his guys a text - guys are so much more simple! Just have him ask them.
