Groomsmen attire help

I would simply tell him “Honey, I get where you’re coming from, but.... They knew that a tux was probably going to be something they had to get when they agreed. And I’m sure they can budget the nominal fee in. All my girls knew and had too. Plus it just looks better/classier, insert adjective here, if they all match.”


See how that goes. And then see what suits they have and if they match enough, and go with gowns, could you be okay? Maybe add a vest under suit coat??

If all the suits matched it would be fine but black is a hard color to match if they aren’t from the same maker. You could ask to look at all of them and decide but as a GM they know they have to buy/rent something to wear for the wedding so your FH just needs to tell them

All the guys in our wedding wore black suits they already owned and they looked great. Honestly? Unless your FH got a say in your dress and the bridesmaid’s dress, I think is his decision. He’s not suggesting they wear jeans to a formal wedding.

The problem with tuxedos is that they will literally never wear them again. It's a rare day when you are invited as a guest to a black tie event. For instance, I'm sure your wedding is formal but I bet no guests will be wearing a tux. Just making the point that in the future these guys will get no use out of them. Now, I understand bridesmaid dresses are rarely worn again too- but they tend to cost way less than a tux.

It's his wedding too. Black suits will look great! My fiancée is thinking about letting all his groomsmen wear their own suits and we are doing navy- so there will DEFINITELY be some variations in color. Black- you can't go wrong.
