Grooms Tux and Bridesmaids dresses?

Cristina, on May 17, 2019 at 4:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Hey everyone!

I am getting married October 2020 and while I have some time I am researching a few things. I know the bride needs to begin wedding dress shopping about a year in advance but what about the groom? How soon does the groom need to get his tux? Also, how soon should I be getting bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen tuxes? I'm just creating a timeline as to when everything needs to be getting done. Thanks everyone!

My girls have to shop for their gowns earlier than expected because the colour I want( David’s Bridal, Sangria) takes 6-10 Months to get in & then you have alterations to do!

Pick your colours and then ask the store how long the longest expected time is for them to come in....

Wow that it a lot earlier than expected. I thought at 7 months is when I would have my bridesmaids and the groomsman start to look but maybe I should rethink to a little sooner. Thank you!

I took my BMs to DBs back in December (6 months out). They all ordered their dresses towards the end of January. DBs said it could take up to 16 weeks for their dresses to come in. All of their dresses were in within a couple weeks. The guys just now got their vests & shirts (we aren't doing tuxes) 1 1/2 months out.

    Hi Cristina!

When creating a wedding planning timeline, the WeddingWire checklist is super helpful!

You tell the tool a little bit about your wedding and it will create customizable tasks for every stage of your planning journey. You can remove any tasks you’re not planning on including in your wedding, and add more you would like to do!

According to the tool, 10 to 12 months out couples find and order their wedding dress, suit or tux. 7 to 9 months out, you can order attire for the wedding party. Of course, these timelines can be affected by a whole host of different things including the lead time of a store, alterations, or if you're renting and not buying.

Have you started much planning at this point?
