Groom's Requests

Traditionally, the bride has more requests in the details in regards to a wedding. Mine requested, no ands, ifs or butts that we have a professional photographer and that we write our own vows. Did any of your grooms have one or two FIRM requests?

Mine wants a limo to transport us to and from the venue. He's also insistent that I come down the aisle to Christmas Canon by TSO. He weighed in on the meal, song selections, has big visions for the ceremony...but he and I tend to play off each other very well. He also selected the venue. I'm doing whatever I want with the decor and what not, but he has opinions and I usually like them LOL the only nose crinkle I got from him was when I originally suggested GNR for the father daughter dance Smiley xd it's since been changed to Christina Aguilera.

Ha ha ha. YES. My hubby only wanted a live band at our local reception (absolutely no DJ), or he didn’t want it at all. 😆 P.S. The band was awesome.

I told DH at the start that this was a two person planning process, end of story.

He did want a Catholic Church wedding. I tried to accommodate that, but, uh, the priest had a different opinion (...I am not Christian, I went through precana for DH... it was a disaster... yeah).

The only thing DH didn't get *any* opinion on, was the attire of myself and my BP.

On the flip side, he took care of the music selections (even helping with what I walked down the aisle to), the seating chart, figured out the centerpieces, and then helped his parents with rehearsal dinner prep (they hosted and cooked, so he was enlisted to carry shopping).

I am very bothered when one half of the marrying couple checks out of planning, no matter the gender. It takes two to marry... so it takes two to plan.

He's a Jersey boy so it only makes sense. I never even watched hockey or really any sports until we started dating.

My husband required a big enough groom's suite with AC (bad experience as a groomsman scarred him) and an open bar and a limo to take us at the end of the night back to the hotel haha those were his requirements! He also had opinions on catering, venue, and officiant.

My FH originally had lots of firm requests and no interest in helping plan. That didn't work. So now neither of us have firm requests and both of us plan. With covid, we had to learn that even the most reasonable request (ex. having friends there, having a dance floor) might have to be compromised on if push comes to shove.

Sometimes, he has stronger feelings than I do about something, so I give in. Sometimes I have stronger feelings, so he gives in. When we both feel strongly about it, we try to make the best possible argument for the other person's point of view so we can talk out the best choice for us.

If my FH said we have to write our own vows, for example, I would be kind of upset because I really don't want that. My reasons are that I don't like sharing the words I write for my FH with anyone else, and I feel pretty strongly about that. Still, I would consider compromising, but I would expect him to come to the conversation willing to compromise as well.

My FH is adamant about having a dark colored Classic Rolls Royce to do replica photos of his parents wedding photos as well as wanting a rotating ice sculpture at the reception.
