Groom's Gift

Nafisah, on April 9, 2019 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 37
I'm having the hardest time buying my FH a gift for the big day. Everytime I think of something he'd like, I find out that he's already bought it. He bought not 1, but 2 watches, cuff links. He doesn't wear jewelry and is not really a drinker. Any ideas?

I got my FH star wars cuff links and a leather wallet that has the lyrics of our favorite song "Golden" by Lady Antebellum inscribed on the inside. I also am surprising him with an engraving on the inside of his wedding band Smiley smile

Hate to say it, but we're not getting each other anything. For the wedding, for any holidays the past several months... Our gift is that we got each other a wedding lol

Does he have any hobbies: fishing, sports, hunting, cars, golf, etc? Something that he can use for one of his hobbies would be good. Or you could gift him an activity: tickets to a game or something. Me and my FH decided instead of gifts, we are going to put that money towards our honeymoon. Originally we were going to gift each other fishing kayaks OR him a gun and me a pandora bracelet.

We're not doing gifts either. Our gift to each other is the wedding weekend.

I did a Boudoir photo shoot and I’m sending the album (little black book) to him on the morning of the wedding. I know that it has become quite popular so if you haven’t considered it yet, maybe it’s because you’re not a fan of the idea.

For the couple exchange is mostly about the sentiment behind it, and the things you know he likes. If he likes watches (which he seems to judging by what you said), you can maybe get a personalized watch storage box and engrave it with your wedding date. If there’s a theme to the wedding and it’s something he likes, maybe some nice collectible item from it. Your vows written on a canvas artwork. If he already got the cuff links, how about a matching tie clip, an embroidered handkerchief with a message for him, maybe a pocket watch. I’m not sure what’s his style, these are just random ideas.

I was thinking about getting FH an electric smoker. He’s been wanting one forever and it’s one of those things I keep saying “no” to because we needed the money else where. So I’m saving my pennies to get it for him!

I will admit that this is a little over the top but... I plan on buying my fiancé a new car. I know, crazy right?!? In no way is this supposed to be "braggy", but I gotta spill the beans to someone.

If you saw this hunk of junk you would totally understand lol. It wasn't road worthy 6 years ago on our first and date and still isn't today. Between a great tax refund and advancements at work I've also been saving a little at a time the last few months.

So nobody tell him haha! Smiley laugh

These are all wonderful ideas! I really wasn't thinking about getting something but I love these ideas so much that I have to do it! I think I will get him something with a ranch/cowboy feel. I'm thinking boots engraved with our date and a little note somewhere...

What about something he wouldn't expect but would really enjoy? Like....

A Season Pass to his favorite golf course, or disc golf club? Tickets to a sports game? A homemade coupon that says "Night out with the guys"? A replacement to something he broke and he hasn't wanted to fix it or spend the money on buying new?

We ended up not really exchanging gifts. I was worried about getting him something but when I mentioned it to him, he was like "wait, we gotta get gifts?!" lol so we agreed to not to buy gifts. We spent enough on our wedding and ended up spoiling each other while on our honeymoon, that was more than I could ask for!

We made a rule that we weren't able to buy ourselves anything after a certain date. So after that date I can't buy anything for myself for the wedding without having a conversation about it first. That way not to spoil the surprise. We do this rule for birthday's and other holidays. I'm doing a boudoir shoot and sending that to him the morning of and a embroidered handkerchief and since he is an alcohol enthusiast and makes his own home brew I got a decanter with our names and date engraved on it. All of the groomsmen are getting engraved cuff links with their initials on them but his will be a tad different (he doesn't know that though)
